I was rolling through the dark on my way to grab a load. Had a flatbed pass me. There was a pickup on his donkey. The flatbed switches to the right lane. The pickup goes to pass him. Suddenly the flatbed locks his wheels and hits the shoulder. The pickup does the rookie wiggle and skids into the right lane, almost underneath the trailer. I was caught off guard, and before I could get my foot on the brakes, an SUV goes screaming down the left lane past me.

Never touched his brakes. He’s flying down the interstate going the wrong way!

For a moment, I forgot how to breathe...

Most of the time, someone running down the wrong way is either stupid drunk, or lost or something. This one was freakin flying like a cop four barreling. Didn’t swerve a bit. Suicide is what comes to mind.

Had that happen to a friend. Some guy went down the 2 lane, cross over and hit my buddy head on. They found a suicide note at his house and everything and they still went to court to try to pin this on the driver.

Well, I got screwed twice today and once was self-inflicted.

My Stamford, CT delivery has turned into a Boston, MA delivery. I don’t mind too much as I’m a Boston born and raised — albeit I’ve never taken a 75 foot truck through there and was hoping I would never have too. Yet, it adds another 200 miles that I don’t have time for so I can kiss that reset goodbye.

Secondly, I took a wrong turn in Chicago. Twice. And let’s just say a thirty minute traffic affair turned into an hour and thirty — ####! So I can’t make Angola I’m at a travel plaza on the 90 roughly 100 miles short of where I wanted to be — ####!

I do want to make it as far as I can tomorrow so I can sit Sunday and have an off day. Want to conserve my hours for Monday since it’s a crane unload and those just love to waste my time. I only got 20 hours for the next three days so dis should be gud fun.

Gotta tell ya Bear I laughed about this all day, you described me to a T. I kept picturing you and me asleep in the living room, head slumped back, mouths open snoring with an infomercial playing on the tv at about 3 in the morning.

I wish I still had the pic my friends wife sent me.

3 yrs ago I had my 35 year class reunion and the kicker to the day after our dinner and visitation was all of us going to a bar with other classes having they're reunions and members from all of the classes in the band. I'm from a pretty small town and the bar was out in the country and we had a blast. Needless to say I had a few too many and it had been many years since I had drank like that not to mention being just a little bit older. Well when we got home, at whatever time it was, my buddy passed out in his recliner, head back, and I was on the couch with my chin on my chest. His wife took a pic of us and it was exactly like what you described.

That is funny, I’m usually falling asleep about when I used to head out the door.
