Start doing 8/2 split breaks. If you are only sleeping 5 hours per night, likely a 2 hour break during the day for a nap or just to get you eyes off the road will do you some good.

Exercise and prepare some nutritious food for yourself. Brush and floss your teeth. Clean your truck. Starting getting some freight you need to unload by hand.

Things to do with 5 hours to spare, ummm practice your reversing skills look for the hardest park to get a truck in and try and park your trailer there. Walk around the Local Flying-J and check out what things are forsale. Use your spare 5 hours to do your next pre trip inspection so your raring to go next morning. Buy a jig saw puzzle and try putting it together. Start a moonshine still in the back of the cab, most folks with think your cooking well you kinda are i guess. Start an online shop that way you can use your truck to make home deliveries in your spare time.

I have always been on a 6 hour per night sleep schedule, if I really stall I can eat and shower in 1 hour; HOS demands I have to loiter around a dingy truck stop for hours more to be "legal".

Needless to say I have never been "legal" and I have no plans of being "legal" in the future.
