30% pay increase......less the increased income tax. It ain’t cheap to eat in the NE either.
It depends a lot on what cities you go to, schedule flexibility, truck and trailer size. I’m 100% Northeast with deliveries in the Baltimore area east to New Haven, CT and north to the VT /QC border. I don’t find it too bad but I have my own numbers, I plan my own trip, one pick one drop and I never deliver downtown. On the plus side, when I get west of Syracuse it feels like a vacation.
I’d be taking a long hard look at how they derive that $100,000 guaranteed.....then I’d really have to look at how much of that extra 30% is left at the end

Speaking about the northeast I was over in port jervis this morning. In town on US 6 coming threw that 12'6 bridge across the river I see a condo volvo pulling a 53 reefer. I see him look at the bridge all nervous then he turns right down a side road and I can see a 9ft something sign hahaha bad day for him but I'm pretty sure a 13'6 would of made the bridge. The next overhead set of tracks were 12'8 but another sign says actual 13'8.

I drove highway 1 in nj. No left turns permitted, anywhere. You get used to it after a while....too funny.

Hi, new here. Just signed up today. I live and work out of Long Island, NY. I drive a 20' box truck here as well as from Virginia to New Hampshire and as far west as Pittsburgh. Many drivers of all trucks do not like to come to NY, a lot outright refuse to. My company ships all over the country and Canada, sometimes difficult to get a carrier for that reason. That said, I would think this area requires premium pay. As far as the rest of the Northeast, Interstates are pretty equal throughout. Naturally stretches through busy area's or big cities can be time consuming, you can't avoid everything by traveling at 3:00am. As you probably know, some aggressive driving is required while attempting to be courteous and staying safe.

The best way to handle the north east is to run through the night if you can. They are all very difficult areas to drive through during the day. If you're traveling 95, it gets difficult once you get north of Richmond. Try to cross the GW before 5 am is you're running that way. Pennsylvania really isn't that bad. The turns can be tight, just be aware. I run up there all the time. The money can get really good running up there, especially if you can get in and out.

A truck takes a beating whether you drive day or night up there..

That’s a GREAT point! There’s no easy driving there. At least Jersey has South Jersey. That’s as simple as it gets. Every area of PA has some unique challenges. Whether it’s tight turns, tricky grades (not even the mountains), low bridges, major traffic etc etc. PA will really keep you on your toes

At least I stand a chance of missing a few in the daylight. 81 between Harrisburg and Syracuse is a war zone. Cost me a tire and $200 service call a couple weeks ago. Friggin disgraceful
