You're sure right about PA. The only way to get better driving there is to go up there regularly. That NJ turnpike will make you cringe after each bump.

Trucking Jobs in 30 seconds
Every month 400 people find a job with the help of TruckersReport.

They pay 60cpm for less than 400 miles and 50cpm over 400 miles.
Every stop (including pick up and delivery) is also payed. Under 400 miles, each stop pays $50; over 400 miles, every stop pays $100.
They do a lot of round trips from Chicago area and typically 2 - 2 1/2 such per week.
So, for example, a 500 mile trip with no extra drops or pick ups would pay $450 - darn good pay, no doubt. Looks to me like $100k is quite reachable at such rates however, benefits are practically non-existent - I got this part wrong in the OP; sorry to anyone for causing confusion.
I hesitate because another company I'm looking at (for example) is Van Eerden which pays the average driver $76k and has at least $8k/year better benefits. Also nicer trucks and no NE. Looks like they'd start me at 53 cpm with round trips from Mich to Ca/ Or/ Wa and "all you can eat" miles.
There's other good options too but I mention these details and examples to explain why $100k is maybe not the "no brainer" it may seem at first glance.
Wages in trucking leveled off a couple years ago but they seem to be going up again. I'd encourage anyone working full-tilt for less than $70k to take a look around.Last edited: Apr 29, 2018

Like 49 through the pine barrens?
Dumdriver Thanks this. -
Penn dot just announced they will not be doing any major road work on I - 81 this year.....except for pothole repair....that will be a major project!!
I live in Scranton and avoid 81 as much as possible. Always wrecks and slow moving traffic.
Around here people drive as fast as the potholes allow....we dont have much for police enforcement of speeding. Main Ave got paved last year up through the valley, now everyone drives 40 - 45 in a 25 zone.rank Thanks this. -
And the repairs are disguised as speed bumps. Seriously it would be cheaper to repave entire sections than patch all the potholes. They look to be a foot deep in many places.
You poor soulMACK E-6 Thanks this. -
I love how the world’s idiots seem to think it’s a good idea to patch concrete with asphalt, instead of doing it the right way and cutting out a section and repouring it.
rank Thanks this. -
yep idiots managing taxpayer dollarsMACK E-6 Thanks this.

Only to have it bust loose in a couple weeks after a frost/ warm cycle.rank Thanks this.
