I have US Cellular one. I'm happy (ish) with it for the most part, except sometimes the phone wont ring when I get a call. It will beep tho, a couple seconds after they leave a message. It does this in Wisconsin and Florida, and everywhere in between. I know this can be expected in bad cell areas, but not Miami. Weird...

I used to have Nexel which was the biggest POS I've ever had. The coverage was unbelievably awful and the phones are expensive. I had Sprint before Nextel and I have nothing good to say about them either. I'm currently with Verizon and love them. Customer service is great and the coverage superb. Just look at the coverage maps for each, AT&T and Verizon being the best and Sprint being the worst.

I had Sprint when I first started driving. I learned quickly that they're claim to "nationwide" coverage without roaming is horse hockey. If your phone doesn't indicate you're on a Sprint network and says digital roaming instead, you will be hit with roaming charges. Also, due to my poor credit (not Sprint's fault), they placed a $125 monthly spending limit on my account. If I ever went over that by even a penny, they'd shut off my phone until I made a payment. After three years of dealing with this I finally went with AT&T. Coverage is good, there's absolutely no roaming, and best of all I get unlimited anytime calls for $99/month. Works great for all the calls I have to make as a driver working for an O/O.
AT&T's customer service could be better. I had a problem with my phone once that was covered under warranty. Instead of being able to go to any store in the country and getting a new phone, I had to have one shipped to my house. Other than that, I couldn't be happier.

I like the free mobile to mobile and the rollover minutes. My plan is going up to 1400 minutes. I thought about the 99.00 plan, but it would cost me more to also have my wife's phone.Last edited: Jan 9, 2009

I allways had AT&T before I started working for this O/O. With them I never lost or dropped calls and allways was able to place and keep a call on the line.
When I started with this guy he gave me a phone with Sprint service. As long as I stay around major hwys and cities I have only a few problems but get off the beaten path and your doomed to roaming and dropped calls if you can even get out with them.
Personally I would go with AT&T the best all around. Sprint allright as long as you stay on the beaten path. -
I use Att, I'm very happy with the service but if you are looking to use your phone as a modem I believe Verizon has Better 3G coverage. The greater the 3G coverage the better data transfer rates you get. you can also place calls and transfer data at the same time on a 3G network.
Att Customer Service isn't the greatest due to wait times on hold, but in terms of finding a store if you need something in a hurry Att is the way to go. Best deals are at the online store. The Brick and mortar stores can't compete with the online prices but they at least can get a product in your hand so you can get a feel what can work best for you in terms of cost vesus function. I use a Motorola V3xx flip phone.
My next phone would have been a Blackjack but the Iphone and other touch screen products for browsing the internet are looking too good not to check out.
By using your phone as a tethered modem you can save about $10 per month plus the cost of an aircard others use to have internet via cellphone towers. They can be tethered by a USB Cable or by blue tooth if your laptop supports it. -
i vote for verizon. they're the only one that works reliably at my house, (i live out in the sticks) and when i had sprint , there was NO coverage from redding all the way to the oregon state line.

Odd, considering Sprint roams on Verizon...

Not really.
When I had Verizon, my plan and phone was an OLDER plan. It was a nationwide with absolutely no roaming. It had coverage almost everywhere. I compared it to the newer plan 3 years ago and the new plan had many holes in it. They were dropping some of the roaming areas that I was able to get, but would not have if I went to the new plan or changed my plan.
I mention this only because it could be the same with the sprint issues.
