The F 14 had another bad design as well. I know 2 now retired Naval Aviators one whom was a CAG that flew the F 14. The REO was the only one that could easily pull the canopy release handle in case of an emergency. The F 14 also was a fuel hog.

It was a fuel hog because it went everywhere in afterburner. It got where it needed to go right now. But as far as ejecting, the pilot has the same handles that the RIO does, so that's BS.

Once again, the planner is killing me. I have to get going after this last monster burger, and resupply truck, get the cats on, fuel, and go for pick up.

So now I'm going to miss the race at Talladega, and Tay's new concert tour is kicking off in Glandale right down the road, but I won't be here.

Again cheated out of a proper hometime.

The way it was explained to me was both had ejection seat handles however only the REO could pull the canopy handle. This might have been a problem in the fighters early days that got corrected however Capt McCord (the retired CAG) told me clearly when he was active (retired in the 80s) those canopy controls were in the back.

Yea well, I knew one or two pilots myself, and spent years in an active duty fighter squadron, in conflict, so I'm gonna go with what I know, not second hand hear say.

I state clearly I have never been inside a F14 or on a deployed Carrier. I also will not continue a discussion where I am ignorant of the topics full facts. There is always that chance I misunderstood the CAG as well. So go feed the cats. :downtown:

Just spotted this thread...kind of off the original topic now I guess....but to get back to the hometime topic. Thanks to WalMart, the "industry standard" now is 5.5 days out gets you 1.5 days home, and most companies are considering the 34 restart as hometime. In your original explanation, got home Saturday with Sun/Mon off, then deliver Tuesday...at home....yes that could be considered hometime. If you needed more time for personal reasons then the question is...Did you give the company advance notice of your need? And, how long were you out before this period of days not driving?

No. However last year after tbe Nimitz finished its deployment. About 2 or 3 weeks later a sailor from the nimitz killed his wife then himself. Never got the full story but I still think the wife had a Jody. I don't know what I hate more. The Jody or the spouse that does this.

Other, the whole thread is satire on those that whine about home time. I'm the planner and the OM, and the DM, and the driver lol.
