Should I wait until a year or try before then?

Spouse needed about 10 weeks. I had 12 weeks to make a trucker out of her. They tested her on the 12th week. Both of our jobs depended on her passing.

Even then a year was not enough, always something to learn or teach.

Best wishes on that. It's worth a try; maybe they'll offer you a job.

Depends on what you're looking for...mega's can be picky about "job hoppers"

Small companies I find don't care..

Listen, trucking isn't like jumping from McDonald's to Burger King to Wendys, alright.

If you want a really good company in the future, you're going to need to keep a ####ty job for a while to show that you're not going to try and jump ship again the first time something goes wrong.

And even then, that ####ty job you keep might not be so ####ty a year from now. I went from $500 a week checks to $1200-1500 a week (net) checks in under a year at a mega. Put in the time, show you can handle business and not whine about every ####ing thing, and raises will come and doors will open up.

I did leave that mega eventually for a different kind of trucking, and I'm happy where I'm at now even though I barely know what I'm doing I still make good money.

Not picking on you. Your statement reminds me of an observation in business. I (we?) need to remember:
People are promoted to the point of incompetence....
    That includes dispatchers, managers, etc.
