My DM told me to start rolling my wheels no later than 5am today to get to my appt at a Walmart DC 6pm. My 14hr clock ends at 6:30pm. We can't park here and I'm sure unloading is going to take some time. HOS violation is highly possible. I communicated this issue to my DM, and he told me to plan better.... what am I suppose to do?
HOS violation!

When you get down to enough time to go find parking tell your company and Walmart you are leaving to avoid a violation and you will return for the trailer tomorrow.
Also tell your dispatch that you will determine what time you start not then. If you can not so that by yourself find another career.KB3MMX, bryan21384 and driverdriver Thank this. -
As all ready posted when you get down to only having enough time to legal and safe parking , do that and put it on the Qualcomm.
Don't be scared to stand up for yourself.
Why is your dispatcher driving your truck instead of you?Studebaker Hawk, KB3MMX, bryan21384 and 3 others Thank this. -
Be honest. Did you maybe shut down much earlier than you could have ran to, the day before? Trip planning is a multi-day plan. Not a day by day thing. Walmart appointments CAN NOT be missed. Knowing this, shippers and carriers generally build in some cushion. If a driver throws that cushion away or otherwise screws around, it makes people upset.
I realize a lot of things can happen that might put the delivering driver behind the 8 ball that were not his/her doing. If this is the case, make your case to your dispatcher.Last edited: May 1, 2018

Lol rescheduling might take days, trucking company will be fined for late delivery. OP, maybe you do have to work on your pre-planning skills and on how many breaks you take per day to screw up the schedule.
Not gonna blame you completely for this, but there is a reason dispatch called you to start no later than 5, he was not sure if you will get up on time -
I was taking a load to Atlanta. I was 2 days ahead of schedule. So instead of paying me 2 days of layover, they had me swapped trailers. I was in Dalton, Ga yesterday with 25mins left on my 11hr was shut down at 7pm. Did my 10hr break and rolled my wheels at 5am today.

They called me during my 10hr break telling me to swap and take the load to Washington ct, OH due today at 1800hrs
