This one is a NO Brainer

In 3 years, you will have drivers complaining that their cattle prods DONT work, and how they’re ‘refusing to drive such a death trap.’
    Cascadia lane departure....

If you have a high value load, critical that it makes it through...do you ship it via Snowflake Express or Old Iron Trucking? Once they figure out how to stupidproof trucking, they lift the marijuana restriction, drop the age requirement, and the money. They won’t need a driver, they will need a monitor. Just someone to push a button when it’s time to push a button. Won’t pay by the mile, will pay by the hour. Really cheap. All these guys will get out the industry. NOONE in the transportation business will know how to actually D R I V E, except an old school driver.

    Supply and demand.$$$$$

I can’t help but laugh when I spin in somewhere and hit a dock first try and someone will say “wow, didn’t know truck drivers knew how to back up anymore”. I say “how so?” They say “oh, it takes some guys 20 minutes to get on this door.”

And I will get flack for this, but any real driver who has driven a fast and nice 379exhd or W9 with a caterpillar and an 18 speed would never prefer a plastic emission junk truck over it.

I"m driving a w9 with cat. I"m really missing the last 2 plastic emission junks. Those were new and actually went to work. While the w9 is the biggest pos money pit I've ever had the luxury of driving. And it has a rebuilt cat, new trans, radiator, compressor, ac, new fuel pump, 6 new injector, new starter. And right now it's getting rear end fixed and another new ac again. While the rest of the truck just keeps on taking out bankruptcy. The shocks are worn out. The power window won't work with 3 new regulators and a butt load of silicone spray. Water pumps keep getting replaced every 6 months. Radiator always leaks. And the rest of the usual same ole crap that keeps breaking down.

Sounds like a poorly maintained or high mileage truck to me. I have driven trucks on the original rear ends with 1.7 million. All those parts listed are normal wear and replace parts, and certainly not the fault of Paccar. I’d still rebuild what is right now a money pit and keep it than invest in a plastic truck with emissions on it. My dad’s 07 T600 with over 1.1 million has 4 out of 6 original injectors, original radiator, original compressor, original a/c, original fuel pump, he did replace shocks when he got steers, and he replaced a window regulator.

Trust me a newer truck treated the way that w9 has been over the course of it it's useful life wouldn't be any better

No. I know this exact carrier and he can’t find good help! The worst part is that he really offers a dream job. Easy work running Dumps, Flats, & Dry Bulks. Good work and only work as hard you want. You call your shots!!! He will never ask you or imply to you to run hot.

Drivers are a dime a dozen, good drivers are extremly hard to find!

It only has 1.1 million miles. I've been in it 2 years. For the amount of money that's gone in to it while I've been driving. He could of had a brand new truck paid for. And making money instead of costing and losing revenue. Most of the new stuff I listed was done before I started working for him. Keeping money pits makes no sense. Unless there was light at the end of the tunnel. But there's no light for this truck. It'll never make any money. It's only an 07 but it should have been scrapped years ago.

I hear you all for old trucks. But this one just isn't worth keeping. It spends more then it makes and still never gets fixed.

It was a Werner sleeper truck. The story i got was it was rolled. The company bought it from Werner i think. And fixed it up. Then it was rolled right before i came to work for them. The sleeper came off and a wall installed to make it a daycab.
