I think somehow I am not doing a good job of explaining my point or you are not getting it. The DOT medical cards being part of a drivers file only applies to CDL holders. However there is thousands of drivers that DO NOT hold CDLs. They are still required in most situations to have a medical card. These drivers hold regular class C licenses. To date I know of no state that has this reporting set up for non CDLs. I have no information to how this will be done if the Medical examiners stop giving paper cards and physicals.Woodchuck88, jammer910Z and dan31186 Thank this.

@Moose1958
That's likely 100% correct.
There's prob no system set up to attach that to nonCDL holders that require it.
I liked having the paper copy bc I could always look and see when it expired. Now I have to try and remember.
Just old fasgioned, I guess. -
Computers, All that information is readily available. 24/7
Canadians haven't had medical cards [even in the US] for at least a decade. I believe Mexico is the same.
Paper can be falsified and hard to trace. Computers can be falsified too but harder to cover your tracks. -
I don't know what the FMCSA will do. It will be interesting to see just how this is done.

I just got an answer to a question about this DOT medical card for non CDL holders. They will continue to do what they have done since 2014. At the point of the physical they will have to specially ask the examiner for a hard copy. If later there is a question DOT will just have to contact the Examiner.
Woodchuck88 Thanks this.
