Hit every little bit of congestion possible between Waupaca and southern Chicago. Made for a horribly tiresome drive.

Got my steel load all ready to go for tomorrow, just sitting here listening to the Winnipeg Jets game then it's bed time.

@Tug Toy looking good and shiny.

@wore out what is the best CAT motor from history? In terms of everything from power to reliability? Is it the B/E model? In your opinion of course.

Yikes! Sorry to hear that! Keep your chin up, like others have said, sometimes even the worst cases have pretty good outcomes!

I haven't been on here for a while, my computer is usually parked at the other place. Yep! That's exactly what I was after. The wet kit tractor is hooked to my flat at the moment while my trans is getting replaced in the other one. Looking like its going to be a while... Trans work is easy, its getting to it that is proving difficult! Soon as I can get it hooked back up to the roll off trailer I'm going to be setting it up like that.

I am assuming you are talking about truck engines, because I would love to have one of those v12 twin turbo Cats they put in heavy equipment.

Power? The King of the Hill, 745HP straight from the factory C16 Cat. Straight off the factory floor, there's nothing like it. I do like the 3406E. Got a 2WS model...started as a 475HP with a 18913A. Great engine. My problems came from going to the diesel doctor and jacking around with the engine parameters. Had him put a 550 tune in, and suddenly, she wouldn't stay together. 5 builds (in 2 years) later, I finally learned that the stock turbo wouldn't allow the 550 tune to work because the EGTs would get too hot. Rebuilt her again, with a digital pyrometer and a biiiiig turbo, got her tuned up.

Now, when you double the factory HP, you realize where all the weak links are rather quickly. Transmission, radiator, intercooler, clutch, TIRES. Still have an issue with tire spin on inclines. The bigger turbo makes her laggy. It takes longer to spool the turbo, but once she's spooled, you can change the rotation of earth. There are variable vane turbos out there that will allow the turbo to spool like a smaller turbo but boost up like the big turbos (I don't know if I want to trust something like that on the breadwinner).

Drive tires and fuel economy suck. But other than that, it will do anything I need it to.

Speaking of heavy equipment when Cat came out with the 992G they put a 3508 in it instead of the 3412 but you had to lock the throttle lock at three quarter to full throttle or else it would just about fall on its face letting the rpms drop too low, wonder if that was because of the turbos not being efficient.

My 4axle had a 625/2050 Acert, put a BD tuner on it. Was making close to 800hp, fuel mileage pulling big loads on 7 was decent, but drive tires, you could almost watch them wear by the day.
