Cheat - act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage, especially in a game or examination.

    Some of us have ethics.

There is nothing wrong with taking advantage of every legal loophole or gaining an advantage. The problem occurs when people are rewarded for 'cheating'. Example... Wallstreetsters that work for Goldman Sachs were fined 140 million dollars this week for fraud and manipulating FX (Forgein Exchange Markets)!!! Did any of them go to jail ??? NO. Did any lose their jobs ? NO. Are they still working at Goldman Sachs and trading in the FX markets ??? YES YES YES. So a Trucker is worried about a 1099 and writing off expenses ?? PALeeease !! And another kid called the cops on himself today because he ran over a sign while making a turn and took out a sign and ripped the air hose from the brake chamber. At least his Bud-Rims were free of small children and old people with quad-canes. LOL Where is the parity ?? I'm getting into the wrong business. Let's see : Steal millions and millions from retirement accounts get a bonus and a slap on the back: "Hey slick .. good work. Just keep the cash flowing and we got your back. Just F### them a little bit at a time so that the next time they look at the books we can keep the fines more manageable and under a hundred million. Okay ?" I can almost feel the bromance ;-)

I don't like the way the government acts like it's "their money" and it's their magnanimous nature that determines what they will allow us to keep.

That said, I'm not of the opinion there aren't some righteous things the federal government should be doing and taxing to fund. Chiefly the US military, border control, and primary interstate travel arteries, but that's about it.

So I guess I'm "in the middle" but I can tell you, if their was no such thing as payroll withholding by employers, the federal government would have no more cash than I do. People would literally crap the pants if they had to actually cut a check directly to a particular welfare dead-beat every month.

Yea if Washington didn't spend our money like it was a never-ending fountain I could see the guys point but you're little bit you pay in isn't a drop in the bucket for what they spend you might as well keep every penny you can.

Do you like having a military? Enjoy driving on paved roads?
Yes we could spend a butt load less on welfare, food stamps, Medicaid, unemployment etc

But people that defraud the system deserve no protection unless they donate an equivalent share into Veterans funds and local roads.

It just makes you a thief. Thieves should be hung as an example.

Don't believe what you pay in income taxes goes to roads. Military and border security is all the Fed ought to be paying for.

Wow, bitter much? Am I a thief for buying equipment and expanding my business to avoid paying taxes?
Who put you in charge driver of deciding who lives and dies?
Have a good day and be safe out there driver. Hopefully no one crosses your path and decides you need to be hung as an example.

No purposely concealing net income is theft. Investing money back into your business is a sound decision and legal.

But I do tire of seeing people ##### about roads, hold up the sorry state of the VA, and our sieve of a border and in the next breathe brag how they do not fund those things.

So yeah a long fall with a short rope.

Now yes we should March on the thieves in that cesspool between Virginia and Maryland and start with them. Hell I'll buy the rope. But it does not change my feelings on people that refuse to support the bills this country incurs yet enjoys the benefits of living here.

No theft is the government taking as much of our income as they think they can get away with and then throwing it away to any and every cause but the VA, Millitary, roads, or borders. How exactly is being paid on a 1099 concealing income, it just let's you deduct what it cost you to earn that income the way it should be.
