It is discouraging to see what has been a life time for me vanish into history underneath vacant lots or big box stores. It's not difficult under the really bad rates and charges imposed in the 90's for a mom and pop truckstop to simply sell out to a amazon or something. Whites prior to it's Sale with Petro was I consider the last of it's kind although I think of several others that might still be around. Maybe.

The only positive news I have is that, last time I was there, they still kept the Diner the same. Otherwise, yes, there are still a few indepenents here and there but they are hard to find, like hen's teeth. Dysart's near Bangor, ME comes to mind, and I think there are a couple along I-95 in NC. There's also one on I-10 in FL that's supposed to be one of the best in the Southeast (Bee's, I think?)

This job sounds like a fairytale. Anyone advertising 4000 miles a week solo is B.S.. 2800 to 3200 is the range on a busy carrier. If it was .40cpm I would have believed the miles.

I have 2 near me in Wa state. One is great, big lot good food, friendly staff. But kind off far from major shprs & rec.
The other has a great location near many big cust so they charge outrageous prices (nothing in the store has prices on the product ). You can park for 2hrs free, then get charged $12 for 10hr parking. They built a 1 bay truck wash & charge $45 for a trailer washout. But these crooks always have a full lot of mainly trucks who don't know the area & are willing to get ripped off for the convenience of the location.

    TST65 Thanks this.
