Ok, a 2013 volvo, cummins isx15, 9 speed manual, around 600K mi., was told there is no records of service, it had an oil cooler leak, a/c compressor clutch was shot, engine fault light on, regen in process while test driving. Super clean at a manufacturers lot. Where can get a vin fax? Whats a good price for a ride like this after it leaves their shop? Need real deal feedback, straight up, no chaser! Thanks in advance

Volvo's should be best left for companies that can deal with getting them fixed.
Not recommended for 1 truck operations. They can be headaches most times getting fixed. And they DO require fixing. More then other brands. And they're kind of proprietary.
Stick with well known brands that aren't such a hassle. FL, KW, Pete. Unless you need something rugged. Then KW or mac. Possibly Pete.KINGevolution Thanks this. -
Rigdig, which is the carfax for big trucks.
KINGevolution Thanks this. -
Volvo trucks are only proprietary when they are equipped with a Volvo engine.
The one in question has a Cummins ISX15, which can be serviced just about anywhere.
Current Mack OTR trucks are offered with the Mack MP8 which is a rebranded Volvo D13 engine.
Pete and KW are both offered with either the PACCAR MX13 or the Cummins ISX15.
Current Freightliners use the Cummins ISX15 or the Detroit DD13 or 15.KINGevolution Thanks this. -
So you are looking at a $15,000 truck, move on.

A Volvo rear end had to be fixed at volvo. No one in vegas had the socket. Guy had to limp it to salt lake.
Eld's require a special wire adaptor. They won't run on the standard J communications port. -
That's the mileage when everything starts breaking down. It literally gonna be falling apart, I don't think I've even seen these newer ISX's make to million miles without an inframe.

walk away Volo is not a owner operator truck period especially if it is your first truck .. freightliner with a dd15 or kw or Pete with Cummings .. it's not a bad idea to get a truck in the 200000 to 400000 range just so you have a little warranty left ... wouldn't think of a 600000 volvo unless you are Russian or have 30 grand saved up ... I have found if you want to have some success you need to be able to run a couple of months with no problems or at least majors so you can build up a maintenance account .... sounds like that truck is a polished turd

So much Volvo hate! I am not sure how much is accurate still but I survived owning one.
Aside from the injector cups defect only major repair was at 930k had to have a remanufactured head done.Last edited: May 5, 2018
