True ... been there done that. Mostly just a paperwork ON THE SURFACE but think about it from the insurance company's perspective ? When you are working in your office though you can move the loads you want on the trucks that you want that are in your circle of familiar environment. Not a problem. I think the bigger problem now days is the $100,000 bond , when we were in the business it was $10,000 , no problem at all.

 

It's setting up with all the customers by the brokerage and then "brokering" the loads you want to the carrier. There are insurance company's that will insure both under the same MC#. Northland, AIG are two.

 

Interlining is permitted as long as the original carrier transports the load at one point in time. The Map 21 regulation emphasizes the need for a clear corporate distinction between the broker and carrier. More often than not, government bodies look to assess the operating relationship as opposed to self-drafted contractual agreements in order to determine the roles of each party in the transport process.
