I'm just looking for feedback on miles. I've read quite a few posts where drivers are saying things like "I'm ecstatic to get 2500mi", "I've yet to see a 2000mi week", "I average 1500-1800mi a week", "my paychecks average $250". Wow, seriously? Are these OTR drivers or regional (home every weekend) drivers? I've been off the road for a few years now and I'm wondering is this the real picture? I get the slowing economy, freight is slow this time of year, and different carriers, but that really makes me wonder about giving up my local job to go back out on the road. Also, are there any teams willing to give me the scoop on their average miles? Thanks.
Is This The Real Picture?

Wish these statements were NOT real but they are....I myself know several drivers who are OTR that are only getting 1000 to 1500 miles a week and early last summer they were hitting 2500 a week.....YES things ARE that bad.
If you have a good local job I myself WOULD NOT be quitting to go OTR unless you have a written guarantee that the job will last and the miles you will get paid for...LOL I know that wont happen but its that bad.HardlyWorkingNeverHome, AfterShock and 1pissedoffdriver Thank this. -
I am on a dedicated right now. We are out mon-thurs. and get 2,000 miles. Was 2300 to weeks ago but we lost 2 stops and we are losing two more. This week we are going to get paid for all the stops even though we didn't make them. Not sure about the future but I will be shocked if this run lasts another month. Companies are closing their doors and that is leaving no freight to haul.

I've been off the road for about a year but when I was hauling flats to New England states averaged 2500 some weeks closer to 3000 home weekends. Stickin' to local hourly pay now making more than I ever made on the road and home every night.

i have 3 buddies working for central transport locally..and line haul...
They are done to 25-30 hours a week....
They are all married, kids, homes and cars...
Even they are getting a beating..they dont no what to do...
I try very hard to not take it personally, but i do..it's happening to everyone...
America is heading for depression...believe it and get prepared mentally for the hard times ahead...
Try to be thankful your even drawing a pay-check...
And yes.it sucks bad..THIS IS THE SIGN OF THE TIMES AHEAD...

Anyone that has a paying job I advise to keep it no matter how bad it sucks. I haven't worked since september and my dad hasn't worked in a year. Neither of us have ever been without a job. Over christmas my wife found out she is losing her job. Right now I am only making $200 a week driving and in 3 weeks that will double. I can't live on $400 a week. I am getting ready to lose my truck, my house, and anything else they can take if things don't cut loose soon. I am praying that my wife gets another could job soon because she is the main supporter of our home. With just me working $400 a week won't even pay the house payment and utilitys. And thats if I keep getting 2000+ miles a week.

I got 3333 miles this week in 70.25 hours, Don't worry, the last 15 minutes were not driving, Just post trip check......
what cuts into my driving time is to much time at the shippers. or receivers! but so far, the runs have stayed fair.AfterShock Thanks this.
