I get into the town of Wyoming ny, it's a small town. I have to take the road to the end and make the next immediate left, so put right hand turn signal on turn right. Bring the truck all the way to the curb on the right, put the left hand turn signal on and make the left. Performed manuever same as I always did. Some jerk in a BMW tried to blow past me. I stop dead in my tracks and blow the airhorn at the jerk. He decided maybe he should stop and I safely complete the turn. Good grief.

When I was enroute with my last load back to the yard I got stuck behind a farm tractor several cars behind me. Again on route 20 which is all hills. A car decides he is going to pass both my milk truck and the farm tractor, before a hill. Seconds later a car appears at the top of the hill. Jerk cuts in front of me. I blasted him with the airhorn. Passing a 65-70ft truck AND a farm tractor before a hill is unwise.

I feel as CDL holders we must learn to drive defensive. Seems like many class d licensed people got their licenses out of a cracker jack box. I have little interest driving a semi in a major city. I come across enough idiots driving in the more rural areas. If I had to drive in a major city I would, but I'm not going out of my way to do that. Just seems there would be even more brain dead morons.

Tractor trailer awareness training should be a requirement to get a class d, it would avoid many stupid and dangerous situations caused by dummies in cars. Some of these people should go straight to the DMV and surrender their license.

This was all in one day.

They should make driver training a big part of kids education. People spend a lot more time driving than many other things they learn in school, but a gerund won't kill someone if you use it improperly

Nobody expects to get through a day without delay, with traffic parting in front of them like the Red Sea. It doesn't happen. Therefore EXPECT delays, like slow drivers, and farm equipment. That goes a long way to keeping you in "The Zen Zone" and your decision making will improve.

Let's look at an example from your OP:

Here's the question you need to ask yourself, "Why did that driver have to pass BOTH your milk truck AND the farm tractor ALL AT ONCE? Why didn't he have AMPLE ROOM between YOU and the farm tractor to easily pass just your milk truck and easily get back in front of you without having to "cut you off?"

Recently I was involved with moving 18 over weight frack pumps from Oklahoma to North Dakota. This involved getting permits for each state. The provisions in Colorado State that "any permitted convoys MUST be no closer than half a mile apart". Ever come up on a convoy of slow moving trucks all playing kiss ###? It's dangerous. Anyone trying to pass either has to pass the WHOLE convoy or risk having to squeeze back in and "cutting off" a truck.

Try this next time you come up on a slow moving vehicle of any kind: LEAVE PLENTY OF SPACE AHEAD OF YOU. That way fast cars can easily pass one milk truck before tackling the next pass. You also benefit by getting a running start on your opportunity to pass AND you don't have to slow to a crawl if that slow vehicle ahead of you has to get under 10 mph or come to a complete stop to make a turn. Slowing early means slowing less.
