Paper Rolls and Recycle back, but when the paper is low and times are bad. I haul
yes. that bad stuff. last week was a lot of it.
-
If I may ask, who are you running for and what region and or state do you call home?
-
You know what'cha got.
You don't know what'ch'all will get.
Personally, I'd invest in security.
Here today -- Here tomorrow.
In another thread --- somewhere, I read comments from a woman who's son is teaming as a newBee/rookie. Two weeks --- 400 miles each.
This might be the worst case scenario, but I think, more probably, only what we're hearin'.
From what I gather, it seems to depend on which companies have more steady customers.
Believe me!
This ain't easy for the truckin' companies either.
If they've set up routes to service customers who have cut-back, or stop all shipping/receiving, and still had accounts that depended on y'all's company to be at another location, close by --- and HAD to, by contract, deliver as agreed to.
That often means that those drivers won't have a re-load/load to git-'em-outta Dodge.
And thar they sit, hoping for their dispatcher(s) to pull a load out of a hat.
Magically.
Imagine that.
I think maybe those times ahead, .....
are (almost?) here.

Oh sWeLL!
And I just happen to live in California.
Bummers!
I'm one of 'em.

VERY INTERESTING AFTERSHOCK..I AM CURIOUS TO YOUR OPINION OF WHY SECURITY?THE REASON I ASK IS MY FAMILY HAS BROUGHT THAT TO MY ATTENTION FOR 2 MONTHS KNOW..
I HAVE BEEN IN SOME TYPE OF TRUCK SINCE 1986 AND THATS ALL I HAVE EVER KNOWN.
BUT FOR SOME ODD REASON MY FAMILY HAS BEEN TOSSING THAT SECURITY AROUND FOR A WHILE...
MY GUT FEELING IS THEY WANT ME HOME AND THE ROAD HAS TAKEN IT'S TOLL ON THEM ALSO....
SO I AM CURIOUS WHY SECURITY?
WHAT IS THE PAY? BENIFITS? FUTURE? WHAT IS THE PROCESS FOR BEING ARMED SECURITY?IS THERE A PROFITABLE FUTURE FOR THIS LINE OF WORK?
JUST CURIOUS OF YOUR OPINION...

I think you've misunderstood my meaning of "security".
Tankergirl mentioned that she is now working a local job, and is
wondering if now would be a bad time to try to get into OTR.
My thoughts are that now is not a good time.
And I think, if anyone is now working a job that's secure, they'd be better off
remaining with a reliable paycheck than to take a chance on another job that may
or may not be there tomorrow.
Example:
In another thread, a poster mentioned hiring on with a city.
I pointed out that many cities are experiencing budget problems and layoffs
are quite possible.
The last one hired is the first one to go.
If that happens, WHERE would they go?
To change from a secure job to one that may be gone tomorrow, IMO,
isn't the wisest choice.
Were you thinkin' Security Guard?
Hmmmmmmmmmmm
Ya know ---- of the jobs with "security" --- a Security Guard just might be
a necessity. Especially now-a-daze with the economy and thefts on the rise.
SOMEbody has to guard stuff.
If they cut back on Security Guards, the thieves just might
cut back on a company's inventory.
With a five-finger discount.
Ya reckon.

Thanx for askin'.

That is what will hurt most people, I work from the UP of Michigan, (Gods Country) It is a place that is nether Canada nor United States if we had our way, Yooper Land is what we refer to our country.
Manistque Michigan has a Paper mill that I deliver from and too every week.
We travel out to places like GE, OK, TN SC NC KY IN OH MO IL MI WI IO SD ND MN and others around the Mid West and deep south. -
I deliver a load of paper tomorrow in Le Porte IN and from there I'll probably go to Warsaw IN to pick up a load of recycle paper to take back up. Then I know that there is a load waiting to go to OK. I hope to get that one.

Security guard may be the way to go, when they shut down the factory I worked at, before they told us, they had a security guard at the front and back gate.
