The title says it all. Bought the truck ac didn’t work worth a crap. Got home put alittle Freon in it drove it around the block cooled fine. Next day got in it ac wasn’t good at all. Two weeks ago. So today put the nitrogen to it to find my leak no leaks vacuumed all the Freon and nitrogen out. Pulled office tube it was gunned up cleaned it slapped it back in vacuumed again put two cans in it clutch would never engage on compressor. Has 12 volts to compressor + and - wire are run to this compressor instead of just +. Pulled ac breaker compressor relay and all kind of other stuff trying to stop power to clutch. Only way to kill power to clutch is turn ignition off. Does peterbilt switch the ground on and off as the switch and just send power to the compressor and use the ground through hi and lo switch or what, how does it work with Pete’s? The compressor worked this morning on thing that has changed is vacuuming down system and adding 24oz of Freon 100psi on low and hi side guage compressor won’t kick on can turn by hand. Like I said worked this morning was short cycling on and off for 20 seconds of how ever long it took me to climb in truck get out walk around see it was short cycling and turn it back off. Fan was staying so I figured I had too much in it from the otherday I just wanted to see if it would cool.

My 2000 pete daycab holds 4.3 pounds of freon, a sleeper truck would hold more. If you only put 2 cans in after a complete flush you still have a long way to go.

Check your thermostat.

How do I start? You're title says "2000 pete a/c compressor will not come on" but you say you have 12+ and 12- at compressor. If you have 12 volts at the compressor clutch then if clutch is good it should engage, if it doesn't engage with 12v then clutch is bad. You might have a stuck relay if clutch is always engage, other things will cause this to happen. You need to fill system with scale to be correct on the charge, ALL vehicles will let you know how much gas to fill system to, from a vacuum. When you had system emptied I would of replaced dryer/accumulator and replaced "orifice tube" , (most likely a expansion valve).
I truly don't understand why you are pulling all sorts of things to stop power going to clutch if you are trying to get A/C to come on. I'm confused. -

Well finally figured it wore 570 right out the firewall was broke off inside the duestch connector put a jumper in clutch locked right up with no issue soon as I jumped out the low pressure switch since it doesn’t have any Freon in it
HopeOverMope Thanks this. -
