Back to actual, useful information thank you very much.

A little more on the tractors:

We have the DD13/automated trans---whatever they call it( i didn't know Detroit made transmissions?) combo. This combo works ok, i suppose. i don't do that much backing these days so it works ok, i suppose. i still don't feel this is any better than a driver, who knows what they're doing, manual shifting a trans.

Most of the newer tractors are the short hood cascadia. Visibility is very good in that you can barely see, if at all, the hood. Since i'm not the one working on the truck, then length of hood does not concern me. Also, maneuverability is not a concern with linehaul in that it's all basically highway driving. The only advantage i can see is that when the truck is used for city P+D (and most road tractors are used during the day for this and will eventually be used full time for P+D) then you get better maneuverability.

One thing i don't like is that the fuel tanks are, i think, too small---about 60 gals per side and thus you really have to fill them everyday.

i'm not a big fan of the new (or any) Cascadia, but it is comfortable.

NOTE: i would ask that anyone participating on this thread only either ask legitimate questions/and or contribute actual, useful information. Not pointless comments. Thank you.

Apologies for the delayed response. Real life has been hectic for a bit. Yes, UPS and UPSF are moving toward automatic trucks. For the most part, I think they're fine. You look a little jumpy and may have to do an extra pull-up backing, but whatever. It's just adaptation.

I'm fine with most of it, but I have to say the Kenworth LNG's are some of the worst tractors I've ever driven. They're actually dangerous with how jerky they are backing up, and a couple times I've been worried I'd damaged equipment getting under a trailer.

That said, going down the highway, they're all pretty good. We have Macks, Freightliners, Kenworths, and Internationals. All pretty good, and I'll admit my shoulder hurts a bit less than it had been, so less repetitive stress is a good thing.

Regarding whether UPS is good to work for...I'll retire from here. I'm not making money yet, and the first couple years are rough, but it's great.

At least at my terminal, spacious. Pretty decent Freightliners. The same equipment we had at Yellow, basically. When I started at Schneider, they were the same trucks that I drove solo.

The equipment will vary from terminal to terminal. So I'm sure you could expect some Internationals, and other assorted makes.

Either way? They make a killing off those teams, so they are going to keep you comfortable.

...and the senior team drivers make an absolute killing. So there's also that to consider.

I'm not going to lie, I couldn't do team driving either. No matter what the pay is.

Is this position with UPS Freight or UPS small package (brown)?
