My opinion is they shouldn’t get rid of ELDs in order to go back to paper logs. With paper logs, the rules are still there. Just that people can cheat with paper. Not much of a solution. I say, why don’t we just eliminate all HOS and mandatory break regulations on drivers. If anything, just enforce that companies don’t push drivers with unreasonable delivery schedules. Sleepy drivers will stop to take breaks if not pushed. With all these stupid HOS rules, they not only NOT eliminated drowsy driver problems, on top of that, they added stressed, anxious, and rushed drivers on the road. Truck stops are over-filled, forcing drivers to park in unconventional places, and sometimes dangerous places. Congratulations DOT.

Learn what the hos are all about, eliminating them is a stupid move. They are there to prevent abuse of the drivers by the company and even though drivers think they are a pia, they protect them until the driver is dumb enough to say yes to make those pennies.peterd, UsualSuspect and Studebaker Hawk Thank this.
