What the recruiter told me was that 7/7 was based at terminals/etc. Drive there and swap out with the other guy.

Business is already slow; you probably wouldn't make much being off half the time when the half you're working isn't that heavy.

So it sounds like you're saying 7/7 is an option if I'm willing to spend my off time driving from the nearest terminal to my home......regardless of the fact that it may be several hours away. I'm not liking the idea of driving hours every week out of my own pocket. Don't know if that sounds too smart. I'm trying to decide if I should take a class B job local or get out on the road driving CDL A and get my experience and foot in the door somewhere before the economy gets any worse. I guess any $ is better than zero which is what I'm making now. From what I can tell based on what I've been reading in the threads is that there is a Roehl terminal in Ohio..which is like 5 hours from Rochester at least. Unless anyone knows of any closer ones...........................

Whoa, Joseph, hold up. Rochester may be 5 hours from Ohio (I wouldn't know), but Roehl's Ohio turf is on the other side! We have space in Sharonville. That's a Cincinnatti suburb.

I'm a rookie so they've kept me mostly in flyover country, but if memory serves right Roehl also has property in Pittsburgh, which would be closer but still not close.

Pittsburgh is about 4 hours or so from Rochester so that wouldn't be so bad. Thanks for that info- that was great to know. Still looking for something local but so far no luck.

I know a few guys here at Roehl that came from TMC, their biggest complaint was the out-of-pocket costs in keeping the trucks up. They all have said they were spending up to $200 a month over what TMC was paying them for truck washes and upkeep. They also hated the inspections. I hear the same complaints from current TMC drivers too.

No, Roehl isn't the best paying company but I think they make up for it in other ways... Like not firing me when I walk on their grass. :biggrin_2552:

I hear too that TMC has a monetary penalty for arriving late on loads Again, heard that from a former TMC driver but I don't know how true it is. I don't make it a habit of being late, but things happen.

As for the truck feeling like home, I don't want it to. This is a job, not a lifestyle. I don't want to be that comfortable out here. I sleep well in my bunk and my heater works.... what more can I ask for? Granted think TMC's trucks are sharp, but I hate leather and have no need for a bunch gauges telling me things I don't need to know about.

Don't think TMC is bad, just different from Roehl. They are both good companies. I think, and I've heard other driver say the same, that Roehl makes up for paying a little less in other ways.

To be on 7/7 or the 7/4 - 7/3, you have to live within 150 miles of a terminal or dropyard that offers the hometime fleet.

    FZ37 Thanks this.

Wow... that sounds great! 7/3 would be great! But the 7/7 sounds like that can't be much of a money maker.
