Are exempt trucks getting ELDs?

ELD's are a joke, and in the real near future. The country will realize just how bad they are, and that these devices will not make our industry safer. Just as all those mega insurance companies who have implemented in the insurance policy if a company add's a million devices in their trucks (cameras, eld, EORB, speed limiters, electronic engines, clean burning fuels, emission control devices, and so forth) they will have lower rates, and safer trucks. Like guns, the trucks are inanimate objects, and the driver is in control. Until we see a drivers that are qualified, and do not poses bad habits (drug abuse, alcoholics, and just plain dumb ##*** behind the wheel. The industry, insurance companies, and governmental regulators will continue to make our lives miserable, and confusing in regulations.

 

Actually the million electronic devices are in response to the mega's CSA scores of 10,000,000,000.
That's how they keep their credentials.
That's why some companies don't have any of that crap.
The more they fall out of compliance, the more extra stuff they have to provide to prove they can operate safely.

The thing I've noticed lately is back up alarms.
You'd hear one maybe every blue moon. Now it's near every night. And they're on every truck of two of the mega's.

I've never seen so many guys pulled over in such awful spots along side the highway as there is now.

The kicker in all this, to me anyway, is bear is more and more on us, and gives more and more leway to someone that shouldn't even operate a go kart.

 

Too bad there’s only 3 of us perfect drivers out here.

Along with ELD. Why have the megas increased the speed limiters?
Thought the reason for slower speed was safer.
Sarcasm, Yes kinda.
I see more unsafe passing, speeding especially in slower speed zones and construction areas, than ever.
Watched a driver run a red light the other day then pass me in a double yellow at least 10 over in a 45.
I turned right on a green he came thru the red at least 10 seconds late.

Sad to see such behavior.
I don't think the problem is ELD or even the HOS.
I think it's not getting paid for detention time waiting to load and unload.
