been out of flat bedding for awhile, what happened to the little spring clips that were in the flat strap hooks that kept tension on straps to keep them from falling off till you pulled them tight, rivited to small hole in flat steel strap hooks? cant seem to find any mention of them when looking at new straps, although the hole is still in the hooks where they used to be.

Just loop it around the rail. I've been doing this since the 80's and haven't seen the retainer you speak of.

this is actually illegal on a trailer not designed for it.

Now I'm curious as heck, even broke both my little books out and couldn't find anything. If you have a reference I'd appreciate you passing it along.
    Thanks.

dont have the exact number but states off top of my head that cant use rub rail as a load securement location unless it has a clearly labeled working load limit on the trailer

wll is whatever is rated lowest, and unless clearly marked like pocket chains ect, a rubrail has 0 wll

Good to know. The Fontaine that I'm currently using and the Wilson before it have routed openings in an extrusion and the WLL for straps is 5K per the mfg's manual.
