But...SRT out of Texarkana, AR will let you guys run it any way you want.
Or at least they used to.
They had one husband/wife team, that ran ONLY daylight hours. Another that did not run on Sundays, for religous reasons.

Well for the record 'being home' isn't as important to us as 'getting sleep' I was just saying home weekends as an example. I've been OTR for 4 months straight once that was fine, I have no issues living on the truck. Hmm I considered making the no work on Sundays cause of my religion claim, one day off a week is all I really am asking you know? Time to catch up on a good nights sleep so that I can drive hard. We don't want to be solo, neither of us really likes it. He thought he'd be fine but he's mopey now and saying he wants to team again, but I am iffy on that because of the lack of rest issue.
I do believe we contacted SRT during our initial search and they didn't have any openings. Now RickG as I said I was considering Panther once, buying my own truck and leasing it onto Panther, but my issue was a fear of sitting TOO much. I want to be down like at most 34 hours a week. (preferably in one sitting if you get my meaning
I'd prefer to remain in the big rigs, I really do like driving them. The issue is they are bigger $ then a cargo van, so I'd HAVE to be making a larger amount then someone with a cargo van to make it. In your expierence if you are under a truck note and running expeidited can you make it? It is something I had considered several times over this becoming an O/O stint I've been in as of late.
Do not concern yourself whether I am ready to buy a truck stan, it is not something I have been considering lightly, and it is not something I will do without consulting the correct people on the planning expert. I've run my own business before and I am more then aware of the complexities regarding owning a truck and that the market for such is sucky now in terms of loads. The fact is you seem more concerned with the team aspect then the fact that solo people do own trucks and make a #### fine living out of it. In the end having two drivers with CDLs running 18 hours, or one running 11 and the other as a rider doesn't seem that big of a deal to work around when you consider they are both going to be on the truck anyway. Running as 1.5 drivers is still better then 1. Or Werner wouldn't have 1000 student/trainer combos eh?
Again, there is more to trucking then the part you are apparently blindered into. If nothing else reading everyone elses responses here should show you that.
I am a big girl, and I am fully able to make my own choices and live with the results. -

I'm sitting on my ### right now. Going to orientation...as soon as some people release my paperwork.
But I'm not worried about the economy. Hopefullly, you aren't either since you've been through this twice before.
Hell we're only at the 7.3% unemployment rate (actually about 15 if you correct the math) we've seen that come and go. Not a biggy for us older guys. Unless they bought into this "get riich" spend big mentality of recent years.
Some of they new guys have it together. Some don't. It was the same way when we started
Illegals make up about 5% of the workforce. We could do a turn around in short order. And with NAFTA being tanked. Loads will pick up quiet a bit by mid-summer. -
