As time goes one, im spending more time on the road. It looks like im going to start staying out for a full week at a time.

This raises the question of what to eat while I'm out. Eating in truck stops is, as you know, expensive and not great lol.

What does everybody use to store and prepare food on the road? Anything? As of now all I have is a cooler full of sandwich supplies, and some stuff that doesnt "require" any cooking.

Have my wife with me and a small refrigerator (On a DIY pallet so it doesn't move around), microwave, and George Forman. She does full meals.

Use the search feature. Look for "cooking in the truck" and I'm sure you will find something. I used to cook a lot of things with a 12v linchbox over they sell at truckstops. Or on Amazon.

The little crock pot that can plug into the cig lighter does some interesting meals, keeping them mostly beans and vegs with some good chili peppers cooking away during a dot inspection gets a eye. Have also used a grill that can be stowed easy for them long unloads, just set out the beach chair, fire up the grill.

I use a crockpot quite often. Theyll even work with a pretty small inverter. Make a big roast and have several meals. Or make a stew. Lots of recipes for a crockpot.

Just have it stabilized because after smelling the brew cooking for a few hours watching it tip pulling into your break spot is pure hell.

    I use two dutch ovens.

A little ham, taters, onions some sort of gravy in one and some thing green in the other. Cook half a day. It's dinner when you find a spot. You would have had feasted on the smell for the last 200 miles. Enjoy.

You are right there. I have mine strapped to a big flat vinyl heat resistant cutting board. Keeps it from tipping and protects the surface under the crockpot. I didnt realize crockpots have little vent "nipples" on the bottom. They will melt holes in a Cascadia carpet if you set it there when its hot. I know its a "duhhhh" thing now. But it didnt cross my mind at first.
