I get in these lulls where I have to explain it step by step for one or two weeks and then I’ll be fine for a few months with “Yes sir, I DO know how to do a split weight.” Alrighty then ma’am.peterbilt_2005, SAR, Crusader66 and 7 others Thank this.

We recently weighed a couple of our fire dept trailers at Love's here in town. I wound up inside helping her while talking on the phone to my partner out on the scale. Apparently. "I need each axle weighed separately" is a new concept?SAR, Crusader66, Shock Therapy and 8 others Thank this.

I get knuckleheads at our yard that don’t know how to scale pups.
“Oh I dunno, how about one axle at a time? And if you have a drive tandem, both drives at once.”
Not a complicated concept, I would think.

I thought tractors weren’t your thing. You look like you’re having a blast.

I occasionally lose my cool and just tell myself to get a regular weight and ride. Normally, unless it’s a really whacky load it’ll be a 50/50 split on the spread or #### close. If it’s heavy all I need is 50-55 psi on my drivers and I’m good to go. That alone will cover your butt on 95% of the freight we run.
We do get stuff like I have now where they will make you heavy on the ### regardless of what you tell them. I knew I was gonna be heavy too — I’m under 50psi for the drives and it’s roughly 46k of product... makes for a nice and enjoyable slosh bucket ride.
Ahhh the joys of having a non sliding fifth wheel. Lovely.
I wonder what those heavy haul guys put up with. Their just weighing axle groups but I can imagine Ron and Solo taking an hour at a scale just to figure it all out

Why don’t they give you sliding fifth wheels?
We even have those on our single screws.Crusader66, Shock Therapy, Zeviander and 2 others Thank this. -
I go on and get a gross, go in tell them I want a reweigh and I want to pay for it all at once. They’ll usually show me the first ticket so I can see my weights and have the number. Then I go out and reweigh each group as I want, even the 9 axle I can weigh in two trips. It’s more work for me but easier than arguing.SAR, ShooterK2, IH Truck Guy and 9 others Thank this.
