Thats about all of them these days, cheap and heavy.... I called on about 9 loads before i finally booked something on friday. Most of them wanted to take bids too, some were so cheap it wasent even worth the phone call, like $1600 on 1750 miles.

I stopped in jefferson ga last week at terminal off 85.There were 90 trucks sitting and they were like scavengers in there fighting for 90 cent freight.I could not believe what i was seeing after all these years.

I bobtailed out and i am home know. very peaceful in my own home with my loving family and i will wait this out and stay here.I refuse to go broke working 100 hours a week.I can go broke here and hang around all day.. and drive momma nuts ...lmfao

I am looking into other things and ready to leave trucking behind and grow old with my family...lol,lol

I have a hunch that rates will come back up...but it will way to late for many guys to see it happen. I do remember the 90's. Heck I was hauling iron and bringing home $1500 a week as a driver and I only worked 4 days. Yeah I loaded the wagon to the point most guys wouldn't believe the stories, but back then a person go do that. The industry has turned into a totally different place in the last 4 years.

I know what ya mean. I got out in time about 4 years ago and it has just gotten worse. A couple of my buddies are still trying to hang on, but with the auto companies down, fuel cost, permits (you need them just to get out of the mills anymore), and the rates I doon't think they will make it. To be honest if I could make the money I did back then with the home time I would do it in a heart beat.

Lots of guys are losing their #####, one guy i know bought a new 8 axle sled with a new 379 Pete, lost it. Another one bought a 9 quad 9 sled and lost his #####. I dont think it will ever pick up, sold my doubles last week for all of $9k, as much as i hate it i dont think i will ever get back into it, if i ever do then it would be with a single trailer, screw the doubles.

We also forgot to mention in these forum's that America sold us out..All the jobs were out-sourced and sent oversea's based on cheap labor and greed.

No one wants to take responsibility that free trade did not does not and will not work for America..

In this process we lost so many jobs in the U.S. it destroyed are economy...

It amazes me that we lost all these jobs but the biggest Chinese employer is going strong, yes WAL-MART...LOL

Shop wal-mart and strengthen china and over sea's..Makes no sence..

So in the end with jobs being out sourced we have nothing to haul..

This is not the booming America we knew. The politicians sold us out and left us with nothing.

    :biggrin_25525:Just an observation....:biggrin_25510:

Sorry. I was speaking regarding those whose mpg is higher, or much higher than the mpg the fuel charges are based on. I forget that some trucks are not getting this higher mpg.

Didnt mean to imply that they did. What I said was that people should look at it. Most carriers and customers determine their charges off of it. That takes the guess work out of figuring out what your FSC and other costs involved will be.

I am not talking about Landstar agents in general, I am talking about sales reps for any company. A high percentage of transportation sales people have no clue what profitable freight is. Most of them have never been involved in the day to day workings of a trucking company or ever been in a truck. Shame on any company for letting someone represent them. A national account rep told me after making a sales call with me that he had never made a "cold call" and had never called on a "mom and pop" business. He didn't know about costing or anything else involved in making a good call. He really didnt care about the company we worked for or the customer. Just the paycheck.
