No to be harsh but there are 1000's already doing it. You will just be another needle in the haystack

Try to avoid any reference to your company in the channel. Some people have been fired for various reasons either considering VLOGing a distraction or they don't like how their company is portrayed.

Also, consider using YouTube and also Podcasting. I think it's more convenient for drivers to catch a purely Audio show for information or entertainment.

Mr @Kstrong86, could you answer the above question, if you don’t mind?

Too many times, some rookie does a bunch of YouTube videos, and does a bunch of stupid stuff. This in turn attracts other morons because they believe that doing stupid stuff is part of the job. I love to see a Young Gun carry himself with professionalism and skill. I do.

I quit watching team sports because there always seems to be some punk that wants to cry and blame his lot in life on others. There’s no shame in losing the big game if you brought your best game every single day. But I will not cry. I will not throw the team under the bus.
If you really want to help, concentrate on the areas where drivers struggle the most

    1. Forgetting about their trailer
    2. Backing the trailer
    3. Reading the road

People who forget the trailer shouldn’t be driving. However, you can show how to set up the turns to avoid hitting curbs and parked vehicles and road signs.

You can do videos on difficult backing situations.
Just about every state/province has their own rules regarding the weigh stations. You could do one every time you go into a weigh station.

Don’t look for the easy cheesy videos...where the guy is sitting behind the wheel bloviating talking about what’s wrong with the industry. Nothing says LOSER like putting down your current chosen occupation. Thing is, you’re going to have to be a pretty solid driver to do my suggestions, but it would pay off. And dress properly. A wife beater is an undershirt...it is to be worn UNDER your shirt, just as underpants are to be worn UNDER YOUR PANTS. Sweatpants are the preferred garment of choice for slackers because they’re easier to piss 8n while driving. Never let anyone see you slacking. Ever.

    Luck in battle.

I have a quiet channel, generally for family. And it's pretty private.

There are some people here on these forums that keep good Channels, Scottie67 would be one example. I think Lepton1 keeps a few himself maybe and a few others.

As far as social media in general, I experimented with that and found that it is a parasite and sometimes a unnecessary problem. So by and large old style forum posts is about as far as I could go for helping people.

I do encourage you to get a quality camera so that when something does happen you have it all. No he said she said. It's all there for better or worse.

It is commendable that you want to help others. However you are dealing with a percentage of people who probably do not care for that content and will troll you or otherwise do whatever they can to wreck your efforts to continue being good and helpful.

I do a little bit of music. But it's truly bad music because as a deaf man I have to have it written a certain way and process it quite differently than say a professional player. So it comes out badly sometimes. It's a work in progress. But I do it mainly for myself and to show other deaf that it is possible to break barriers and do things new in life that people tell you cannot be doing. That is my motivation. Someone tells me I can't [insert activity] guess what. Im learning it lol.

The worst social media activity you can possibly get involved with derives from gaming these days. There was a time online gaming was a community, now it has become a industry in which gross revenue of paying public exceeds that of the entire Hollywood annually. If you were to upload say a game that you played against other people, you will have a whole stack of corrections waiting for you the next day. If you are particularly bad, then the stack will be a condemnation rather than teaching. So I got out of that entirely.

I do watch certain trucking videos channels from time to time when it's done well. Or presents a situation that is pretty singular. There is a video where a virginia tractor trailer was cut off east of Richmond on I-295 at route 10 on dry pavement and it turned out there was another truck that was run off into the median. Both tractor trailers got it back and straightened out. But it's all there on tape should law enforcement care to pursue the problem of that particular black car.

That's one example. Ive got links else where to that one.

In time if you are consistent with your information and present it well people will follow you regularly.

I drove in a time we had no cameras like we have today or much of a internet back then. I recall that on I-495 I would be in the middle lane making time. Not necessarily within the speed limits of the time either. Uncle Sam would have either the President, Congress or Cabinet people in convoy with many black cars push and shove their way past me and around me too as if i am in the way (Which I am... ) depending on the flags flying on the corners of the biggest cars you can get pretty good idea who is on the move. The area towards Andrews is really bad for this. I would have loved to have a camera that sees 55 on the sign, 75 on my dash and this black train pushing past me at 90. Heh.

People get information on YouTube? I always thought of it as a means of preserving some of the greatest moments ever recorded on video. Just kidding

Post what you want. If you are good and informative people will follow and watch.

Some people make videos and music that are amazing, and people flock to them. Then they get famous and go freaking nuts.

    Don’t be this guy

I have a year under my belt on the civilian side driving trucks. I am prior military. So I drove trucks whether it be van flat bed or container trailers in the army for about ten years. And no it’s not all just driving on a military base. I drove off the base as well. One time we drove from Colorado to California for training. So all together I have about 11 years of experience of driving trucks. I’ve also driven in Iraq getting which in my opinion if you can drive in those type of conditions i.e getting shot or waiting to get blown up you drive anywhere lol. Also Korea. Korea is a beast in itself. All in all I’ve never had a ticket or accident. I didn’t want want to post my company or myself. Just wanted to have the camera facing outward with me talking about a topic or an issue that someone might wanted some help with. I’ve been in some tight blind side backing spots that I wish I got on camera.

Driver if its something you are passionate about go for it, don't let nobody discourage you, telling you that you can't do it or saying already thousands doing it. (Thousands of restaurants available yet still every day a new one open) just find your niche, stay in your lane and make it happen. My channel is mostly about repairs and backing.
