Took over mom's plant tonight and we got to talkin'.....we goiin to Buffett next weekend.... They's watchin the pup.
I been to alot of concerts with them. Seen Dolly and Kenny Rogers when they landed life flight on the track cause his voice was going. Seen George before he was the king. Seen alot of jazz players....Woody Herman.... Maynard Ferguson....
First concert I took mama to was Alabama...... That was 85..86...my memory ain't good.
But got to talking to the parents tonight.... They been to some I never got the chance to see...
Waylon and Willie....Roy Clark....Ann Murray.... Crystal Gail... Wayne Newton.
If you listen you find out things you never knew about......
If your parents are still with you go have a sit down....you never know what you will here.....
Happy Mothers day to all the girls that let us do what we do..... -
Kinda cool today.....the oldest was camping down below the dam at howle station. We went for a walk across the old train bridge on the river up to the dam.
When grandpa died in '66 at 52 years old dad gave up a dang good job to come back and take care of grandma. The job he got then was helping build that dam we was standing today watching hold back that water.
Cool..... -
Blind leading the blind. -
Here's the screwy part about this story.... Grandpa before he passed ran a dragline during the day and ran the hydro in a the town just south of me at night. They've spent the last couple three years and around five mil putting a generator in this dam dad helped build that was just supposed to be for flood control..... Well...
In '93 they all got caught with their hands in their pockets....see the state figured out they could make this area recreational.... So they was holding back water to raise the lake....well then the rains came.
We spent a couple weeks helping sandbag a levee in the small town my wife grew up in to keep it from flooding.... A levee my other grandpa helped build in the late 40's
And in the immortal words of Paul Harvey....that's the rest of the story...
Thanks for listening to my jibberish.... -

Another old friend of mine lost his oldest son 11 years ago. Leukaemia. Every summer some of his sons friends and ex-coworkers go out for a supper.
Sometimes you just have to be there to listen to old men remember the past
There needs to be an Old Man Day. A chance for us to raise a glass and honor those who walked the line before us.
But you're right. Parents or just friends the tales need telling. They didn't start out life old, they earned it. If I've heard some stories once I've heard them 20 times. It'll be a sad day when I can't listen to them any more -
I spy....
