Another big issue is This.... There are too many people that have no idea what their bottom line operating cost are.. If you don't know that then you don't know how much you need to run for to profit...
I've seen a lot of drivers at sni That I've talked to personally that have no idea what they're doing... Now mind you you got a bunch of clueless fools at a lot of these outfits That operate the same way...

You should never take more than three years to pay off a truck. Especially with the current economy.

A brand new truck at Schneider will take you 6 years to payoff via their lease program.

People get tricked into leasing by the tax wording.

On a regular purchase, every dollar is tax deductible just like a lease. The difference is, you write off the entire purchase price over the first three years. On top of that, you are writing off all interest.

After three years, of you didn’t pay off the truck like yo should have, you are still writing off the interest.

Just like a lease, every penny gets deducted.

Gotta be prepared for the unexpected, or the business will crumble.

Currently, I have been home for 5 weeks with a truck down. Plan is to pick up the truck today, which means writing a check for a few thousand dollars.

I have been home long enough that all outstanding invoices, most on a 30 day cycle, have all payed.

What does all this mean? I am about to go back to work, and barring any further mechanical issues, I will be continuing to pay bills, including a truck and trailer payment, as well as fuel my truck for the next 30+ days with zero cash flow coming in.

    Prepare for the unexpected.

I went into this venture with little money and excellent credit. Thankfully, we put back money into the business rather than living line settlement checks were merely paychecks.

most of them dont like to look at the numbers, if they did they would realize with their lifestyle and expenses there isnt any profit, and thats not the answer they like so its better to just pretend.

Hello drivers been a while since I have been on here hope all are well. To the gentleman talking about coming to the if program these guys are right. They may come off a little harsh but they are giving you the real. I am currently leasing a sfi truck but am no longer with am sni. Can you make the note every week..yes. Is leasing for the birds..YES. But you can make it happen. You just need to keep track of you numbers from mileage to every red cent earned and spent. $1.30 to $1.50 is practical and running 3000 miles is a good week. Take into account deadbeat cuz those miles count too. Rates are up and so is fuel. I stay out for months at a time and not 1 I mean 3 to 6. Sfi will work with you on a break down..payment wise but you have to communicate. Had a recall on my camshaft last year April down 2 and a half weeks. They wanted there money. So profit in the bank went to them. But that was my choice. Didn't want to have to wait for them with 200 here and there for x amount of weeks.

Also if you come over you can have them take a set amount out every week on top of note to put away for them to take in case of a breakdown or just taking time off. Use your maintainance account for what it is... A maintainance account.

Not sure on what they quoted you on new vs used but used I have seen can vary from 100k to 300k. I got lucky on a used truck and got a kw with 140k on a 2 yr over a new shaker on a 3 yr. Before I made a choice I wanted the run down on the numbers. Yeah company matching sounded nice on a new truck but when the number got written down on paper the money I save on a used truck match in 1 yr what they would match in 3. Best of luck to you and wish you the best.

Leave you with 1 bit of advice... Don't say what your not going to do cuz that truck will make you a liar

Sorry 1 other thing I was reading and wanted to touch base on YouTube truckers. Everywhere is the greatest til they leave for whatever reason. And then repeat the process. Nothing against any of them personally but if you listen a lot of it, it is opinions. Couple of guys are cool but majority are looking for publicity. Count how many are telling you how to make money but want you to donate. I never asked homeless person how to buy a house. Talked to a few and boy I keep the salt shaker handy. Just pay attention
