Jim Palmer in AZ

I'm looking to sign on with Jim Palmer in June but have a little concern that I never see their trucks South of Phoenix. I've actually never seen a JP truck even in Phoenix. Is anyone working for JP that lives in Phoenix? I live in Casa Grande. Just curious how home time works for you. Where do you leave the truck and do you have freight when you come home out loads close when you get back on the road?

 

That's why iveI been so into going to them to start. Being new to the whole industry I don't know how homeroom works. Do you get a load to your area them get one in your area when you get back on the road? I'm hoping to stay out 3-4 weeks and 3 days off. Just clueless how that all goes down.

 

They said they do run stuff in AZ that's why I qualify for their training. I've just never seen a truck down here and I spend some time on the freeways.

 

Schneider was actually my other choice but their training didn't seem as thurough as JP. The pay while training also was lower both while and after training. I know jp pulls prime freight. Down the road with experience I might move to Schneider but I want to get trained the best I can and it just sounded lacking there. I see there trucks everywhere in Casa Grande though.

 

I've talked to both. Schneider is more school based training and only 18 days of company training and orientation. $80 a day for the 18 days. Jp does they're open schooling. Then trains with driving for a week or two. Get cdl then 30,000 miles at 2 different levels of pay. $600 a week or more then$700 a week or more till you get your own truck. That sounds like a lot more personal training to me. Plus the pay. I have bills. Not sure they run that far East either. Wil trans is East. JP is said to be no further east than Ohio.
