So you're ok with somebody with zero experience in the private sector much less driving a truck determine what it should take to drive truck? I've only been driving for a year and a half, I was a below average student in every grade and I passed it on second try with very little effort, the only reason I didn't pass the first time was I wasn't sure on all the pretrip inspection parts. I'll say what I was actually thinking now, if you can't pass the road test on second try you never get a cdl.

That comes to 9000$ a student about, the only money they put out for students seems to be for hotel and food, yeah they're making out on that deal.

I've also heard companies get govt money for CDL training. I suspect it's a well-distributed rumor, not real.

They're tilted so when rolling at speed they stand up straight. It helps with SWRs on flexible whips like Wilson 2ks.

So, what's your planned improvement to the system?

I studied my tail off to get my CDL-LP. I did the same at the CDL school to pass with flying colors.

I put up with a cynical, angry, burnt-out "mentor" for 5 weeks to qualify for an "upgrade"and a truck to drive solo.

All of this was at considerable personal expense, and now I'm just a steering wheel holder. (Although, even with only 7/8 months experience, it took me less than 2 days to find a mostly local, at home with my wife and dogs every night, Class A driving job. )

How would you improve the system?

I have a few suggestions of my own, which I will not yet publish.

None of the ones I've watched at highway speeds stand up straight. They wave around quite a bit but don't stand up straight.

You may have them tilted too far forward then.
