OK, so what's your solution, then?

Anyone who has run 3 sets of logs should be disqualified from any discussion of how much safer and more responsible Truckers used to be. And for that matter, I experience the courtesy that they all claim long ago died as well... but that’s a flatbed thing. Honestly there’s nothing wrong with trucking. It’s the same as it’s always been. Newer people come with stars in their eyes and leave just as jaded. Near as I can tell, that is literally how it has always been. The only difference is that you can’t see the face of the idiot who is lying to you at the lunch counter anymore. The end.

And if you think there is something new under the sun with trucking, go put on a 10 hour playlist of classic trucking songs and movies and tell me why they are all about DOT hassling us, idiots smoking their brakes on grades, being lost in a blinding snowstorm, rolling trucks etc...

 

The trucks just got uglier and you don't crash and die if you screw up and have no clue what you're doing, well maybe you dont.

 

Wow. Sounds logical. Because there is never a middle ground? A compromise? You ask me, this mentality is the same one employed by all the drivers we complain about. The ones rolling down the road with blinders on, convinced they’re doing right, because hey it’s working for them. Who cares if they’re doing 55 in the middle lane. Anyone who disagrees with them is just an old grumpy super trucker anyway. Besides, they’ll park at the fuel island and go in and grab a meal and a shower while you wait. Who cares? They’re winning in they’re world.

With just a touch of understanding, common sense, and sometimes empathy, I bet we could fix up the way the majority of drivers operate. We could also probably move in a political direction that works for the overwhelming majority. Probably improve family lives and friendships....

What a thought.

 

actually I have always been able to do anything I needed to do with just 2 log books .... but did get 3 drivers licenses but thas the way to make money and I never got in an accident in 35 yrs driving a truck mostly just lucky I guess .... speed limit was 55 and most of the trucks i drove would cruise nice around 75 or 80 so something had to give so thats where the extra license comes in handy .... I'm so old I can remember prime hauling ### down I 80 lol ... you have no idea what it was like driving 30 or 40 years ago ... and people were more friendly in all walks of life .... how many of your neighbors do you know or even talk too ....

 

now do you honestly think the 14 hour rule and the half hour break makes it safer on the roads .... I don't really have a problem with the e logs just those two rules ... ... and do you ever just listen to the Democrats talk you must not

 

I wish I'd been around 40 years ago even most of the officers were less militant, the locals anyway. My truck gets it's best mileage at 73 or so, I love it.

 

Trucking is not the same as old days. There are many differences. Technology, regulations, Politics , etc. The only real similarities is the lie's and B.S in the industry. In the old days, we as drivers did what we had to do to getting the job done (running more than one log book). Everyone today, always states the industry is the same as old days. This is far from the truth. I agree, newbies should watch the 60's and 70's trucking movies (not the fake ones)., but the real movies as to the practices of trucking. Those who want to put down us old drivers for running two-three log books, need to walk a mile in our shoes before trying to srpead stupidity in these forums.

 

The Feds who were bought and paid for by the megas told him so. That means it must be true. If he wasn't so busy bootlicking maybe he'd reply to you.

 

Democrats used to be reasonable and the middle of the road now they're off in the left ditch somewhere and going farther that way.
