You can get it set up and then it shouldn’t fluctuate. Your radio will have a transistor that will produce so many watts depending on the type, that cobra 29 will be easy to set the deadkey by a tech at 2 Watts when you deadkey, then produce 20 Watts when you talk. That actuates the transistors in the amplifier that then produce how ever many watts they are rated for.
Hooking it up goes radio with a short coax jumper to the transmitter side of the amp, then the coax from the antenna to the side of the amp that says antenna. Run decent rg8 or better, get it from a cb shop and not the truck stop if you can avoid it.
I personally like to keep a meter inline to watch and make sure everything is cruising like it should. run 8 gauge wire with quick disconnects from the amp down to the battery that is frame grounded. Make sure you put the appropriate size fuse, probably 25-30 amps within 6 inches of the battery on the power wire. Check the swr’s and keep them at 1.1-1.3 on the meter with the amp off. Then you can start talking.

Partner we just might have to find you a load north...you lost me...and I been to school. A transistor is just a switch...you put .8 on the leg to switch it and put whatever it will handle thru the contacts. You boosting the wattage to the max of the transistor? Will the caps handle the heat?1951 ford, Shock Therapy, ShooterK2 and 5 others Thank this.
