And then they turned to steel plungers, correct me if I am wrong, and they still fail. Now they have a diamond encrusted mess they are coming out with. You will not be able to buy the rebuild kits any longer here, a new pump will be required. I think they have the price down below $3000. Not my idea of a "good" deal.

 

The problem has not been fixed as the end of the video suggests. I have been spending time at Haggai Automotive and Diesel here in Griffin GA... He has a long line in front of his shop, more than a few have failed fuel pumps that were caught in time. Still, over $10,000 to repair, and there is no guarantee he can fix it. In frame is the best bet as long as the crank shaft is still good. Figure $28,000 minimum.

 

388 565/2050 18sp 3.58 rears, 11R22.5' 78" bunk, 312"wb, 385 floats for steers, 24,500 empty. Usually cruise around 65 which is 1400rpm. I hook to 80,000 pound trailers and rip them around the northwest.
Oh then there is all the idle time at 1000rpm while unloading.

 

I highly doubt anyone is getting 7-8 mpg with a 389. Unless they drive 45mph lol

No torque. only get 1750 at 500 HP. Might take a look at the new X12 ###. at max 445 HP you get 1700 lbs of torque and 750 lbs lighter

 

You must have been looking at the efficiency series engines as they are only rated to 500/1850 but the performance series is rated up to 605/2050.
