A lot of trouble. Thin Film Antenna is your “friend”.

Speaking of which, does grounding that lead “neutralize” an unused antenna?

Been gone for a while. Sorry for the late reply. It's a 122SD not a Crapcadia. The sleeper roof is 10ft from the ground. My thought was to mount a mast to the back of the sleeper and run a very short ground STRAP to the frame. Then use ground straps under the sleeper to the frame rails. I pull a fuel tanker and do have to worry about clearance. I'm not excited about any antenna/coax projects with this truck.
The entire door and mirror would have to be disassembled to just remove and replace the coax. Not fun!

Use the exsisting bolts and holes from the top of the grab rails as your ground ORRRR use a length of ss and go across the back of the cab and out the sides approx the same as mirror spaceing..Mount antennas to that with cophase coax..
ORRRRRRR get some ss and connect both grab rail with 1 ant up the center using the ss attached to cab as yer ground..
