Only when I have to. I would leave it on all the time but drivers seem to think that channel 19 is their personal channel to ####-chat. Then when there is a back-up nobody can get a word in edge-wise to say anything. So its pretty useless. I just wish drivers would go to another channel to talk their crap. After all there are 38 other open channels. Leave 19 for drivers to report road conditions, especially in the winter when there the roads are bad and it helps to get all the warning you can.
How often do you use/listen to the CB when driving?

OK... why did it edit C h i t? lol

It is the one thing that keeps me rolling for certain. About every three hours I have to take a break from it though.
I grew up when it was all we had to keep in touch. The most we could afford was a pager back then as far as cellular communication. I fell in love with 2-way comms and got a job at one of the local CB Shops down home. Did it for years and just still play around.
I am usually off on low sides talking to my brother who drives for Avritt. Strokin 2000 watts can reach out and grab ya when you need to. -
I drive 250 miles roundtrip to and from work daily. I have my radio on at all times to listen for upcoming road conditions and for bear reports
. I do also transmit reports of all road conditions and bears that I see. I have always apprecaited the bear reports as I do speed (90 MPH in New Mexico).
I drive a 4-wheeler. I have always treated trucks and 4-wheelers with respect, except for the occasional dumbarse:smt075. The dumbarse's deserve no respect, but they do earn a healthy following distance until I can safely pass them. -
Had it on nonstop for 9 years of driving...19 years in the 4 wheeler when near trucks...less and less as intelligent life disappeared from the airways.
I hope I don't miss something some day that I needed to know because of local brain damage causing me to seek erstwhile entertainments.
My favorite rig is my Uniden PC68XL hot-rodded with a Connex (they said you couldn't put one in it, so we did), a Texas Star 670 footwarmer and my homemade wide-band antenna. Call me "WuuuuurlWiiiiiide...Red Fox 911 inna Mobeeel"!
When I hit the road for WS, I'll have to come up with a way to build a set or center pole for a truck...! -
I keep mine on all the time. I wish that that I talked on it a lot more. I've found a lot of the guys from Canada are a lot more talkative, eh?
-
I'm in the truck, my illegal export is turned on
-
Mine is on when I'm driving with the exception of Truck Stops turned off and following the chatty Cathys down the road I turn it down and squelch up.
I always give bear and scale reports. If I don't know I still respond if no one else has. Really sucks when no one answers back but all you have to do is comment on some seat covers and look out! -
From the moment I get into my little Saturn, until the time I get to work. I use it to BS with the truckers, as well as fielding the occasional question on whether trucks can cut through the perimeter on 75 or 85 instead of going around on 285. And then, of course, there's using it to avoid the inevitable wrecks that make my daily commute not-so-fun.
-
Then you've probably heard me doing the same out there: I'm all over the Atl. - mostly N. 75
When on the road it depends on if the channel is clear or not. I depend on my bird dog in my pickup, since drivers lie or just don't call out, so if there's brainless chatter I squelch it all out. Otherwise, squelch just above the noise line. You never know when there's a call for help or something.
