Hey Gumper, in your first month of driving did you have any repair bills by chance?
-
Yes. I would say it’s abnormal though. Had to put a new clutch, and differential in the truck. The trailer needed new brakes, and a few tires. I anticipated $8000 worth of repairs a year, and I’m close to $10,000 already. Buying equipment over 20 years old does have that risk. I’m betting I’ll have another $6000 worth of maintenance before the year is over.grizzlyfreight Thanks this.

Thank you for your response! Would you mind me asking how old your trailer was by chance?
-
-
Awesome thank you so much! Have you had any problems with brokers saying your equipment is too old for the shipment yet?
-
I think those fears are overated.DSK333 and grizzlyfreight Thank this.
-
I remember sometimes as a broker the shipper would require the trailers and tractors to be a certain year, it was pretty annoying at times especially for the carrier.
-
I think trailer age requirements are a tattle-tell on shippers that like to overload.
They know they will overload you, so they want their overload product not to snap trailer in halfDSK333 Thanks this. -
Then those shippers and brokers need to pay a premium rate to have such needs addressed.CorsairFanboy and grizzlyfreight Thank this.
