I've read the other post about taking care of the antenna selection and installation, but which cb do you recommend and where to purchase from? I don't use side band, just standard cb channels.
Assigned 2016 Cascadia need help selecting cb.

The one that works best for you. Seriously, not trying to be a #######, but you’ll get about a hundred different answers and 10 times the questions on what you’re looking for.
Basic system? You know the antenna setup you say. Cobra 25 or 29 classic would get my vote. Again, just my opinion for a starter. -
Thats a loaded question that could garner up to 100 valid resposes. It really depends on what features you are looking for in a radio. Do you want weather channels, talkback, variable power, swr meter and so on, if you are just looking for a simple basic 4 watt am only radio you cant go wrong with a Cobra 25 or 29, they usually sell for anywhere between $ 80.00 to $ 120.00 and you can buy them in any Truck stop or CB shop. There are several other brands to consider like Galaxy and Uniden ( Bearcat) it really depends on what you are looking for in a radio.

Loves is offering a $30.00 mail in rebate on the Cobra 29 LTD Classic which brings the price down to $89.00.

I favor Uniden.
And I’d rather have the Galaxy 979 or 86 versus anything else in that size.
Check prices on Amazon or at Clays Radio Shop. -
No worries on your post, lol great minds.
Can’t go wrong on the classics. And $89.00 is a good price.
May have to get one for the wife’s Tahoe since I finally got to hear the one she has transmitting. Calhoun hack shack did a number before I acquired the radio.Last edited: May 21, 2018
Reason for edit: Don’t know why I thought Clay’s at first. -
Uniden has gone the direction of surface mount technology in their new line of radios ( 680,880,980,787,68 and 78 ltd and ltx) so generally they work really good out of the box, even the Roadking radios are made by Uniden. From my experience ( 880,980,78ltd, and RK Classic) the receive is excellent and most the radios ( except 980) come stock with 520 mosfet final and the modulation is loud and clear. If by chance you could find a Uniden 78 ( old school) it would be very comparable to a 29 ltd classic.

An original PC78 or even harder to find PC66 or 76 would be the top of the list Uniden radios if I were looking for one. Of course in a good working condition. I have one 66 on my shelf, and it will never be powered up again. I’ve had it shelved for almost 10 years. T2W did it up when I was in the northeast before his passing.
Obviously the mid/large chassis cobra and Uniden radios are getting the most suggestions, and there’s a reason. They flat out get the job done. They’ve been around forever, easy to work on and sound good as long as a hack hasn’t gotten into it.
SMT boards are taking over, and it’s not necessarily a bad thing. IMO it will weed out more hack shops as they toast the boards. Failure due to shock and vibration would decrease as well I would believe.BTShepp and wolverine11 Thank this. -
I wanted weatherband, can't keep a radio in dash with it, and the one I had got tossed by the hacks pretending to be parts changers at a dealership. I'm bad, I know. It wasn't working well, anyway, but it was a couple steps up from what they replaced it with.
The 980 works for what I want, and it is good enough for what I need. The new cobras with weatherband work, too, but the surface mount Uniden seems to be more troublefree.wolverine11 Thanks this.
