Anyway,.. heading to get 8 new tires tomorrow and they dont have any BFG ST230 in my size. (255/70 22.5). I'll be loaded and dont have time to go out of route else I would go somewhere else to get my BFG's.
Someone said to check into Continental. I dont have time to do any research,.. but notice they are about $80 - $100 more than the BFG. I see the ECO plus HT3 and the HSR2. The HSR2 looks like it would be better for spread axle. But I dont want to pay a premium for tires that wont last any longer than what I have been getting with my BFG ST230. Anyone with any experience?
Prefer a good tire in the $350 - $400 range. I can get the BFG ST230 at $360 a tire and have been getting 120 - 140k mi from them. Unfortunately not an option for tomorrow. Looking for a premium tire with out the premium price.
Any recommendations?
Thanks,
Hurst

I went with some low pro 24.5 Hankooks and I've been very pleased with them. I couldn't tell you that the specific tire off the top of my head right now. They're wearing beautifully. Half of my miles are grossed out and half are empty which seems to mess with a lot of tires but these are handling it well. They have also handled speed/heat/weight combo well.

I liked my Dodge quad cab's 5.9 and a ton of logs against larger Hankooks at 3000 pound capacity plus pretty consistent with traction when light.
I would suggest you stick with the tires you already want and know well.
You could use online shopping to locate those tires along your route and scoop them on your way. -
Isn't 120-140k miles on the low side? I have drives with 235k miles and 10/32 still left.

IIRC Hurst has a spreadaxle.
That might be why he does less miles.stwik, Hegemeister and x1Heavy Thank this. -
I wonder if Hurst has a dump valve to allow that aft spread axle to essentially skip and float when doing tight maneuvering really gently.

He runs a spread axle. They are hard on tires.

I run Firestone’s 561’s on my spread axle. I think they were $380 each? My carrier runs some generals with what appears to be good results too. I don’t know the price though? I just bought some continental (hs3 ?) steers but only have 25k miles on them so who knows?
Hurst Thanks this. -
My tire guy turned me on to a tire that States Logistics has been buying for all their trucks, and they are a big Co. so I'm guessing they did their research.
I purchased 8 Milestar all position tires for $2,405. That included dismount, remount, balance & 8 new valve stems.
That was in Jan 2017, approx. 60K miles ago. I have no complaints and they were $1,500 cheaper than most other brands.
I see States Logistics trucks all the time on my route, and have never seen them on the side of the road with a flat.Tug Toy, BoostedTeg and Hurst Thank this. -
Hurst, i have those hsr2s and i would buy them again even if they cost 200 over a competitors tire. My only gripe with them is they are not stocked by very many tire shops. I can't seem to ever get 8 on the trailer.Hurst Thanks this.
