I have a 4' chunk of 2" strap I use for releasing snap binders. Fold it in half around the handle and yank the end and yoke it open. Nothing to go flying.
I use a box end bar for snapping them tight tho.
Winch bars?

The new style snap binders can be opened by hand. Really nice, IMO.
-
U mean the recoilless ones, where theres another joint between the body and lever?
-
Yes. Sounds like what they could be called. Don't know that I've ever heard an actual name for them. They are nice though. And mine have an adjustment (screw?) on them. Along with a latch to keep them from accidentally opening.already gone Thanks this.

I had the weld fail in the box end of my bar while using a snap binder. Wasn't overtighing it. I was in a awkward position chaining steel on top of a flatbed. Loud boom and next thing you knew I was going through the air on my way to the concrete floor below. I'd had that bar for three years. Never inspected the welds before.

Man, I just whack a tight snap binder with the which bar to loosen them. Didnt realize there were fancy "recoiless" binders.
