The Donaldson Extended Life are not for the OPS unit, they are the full flow filters you use on the engine whether you use a bypass or not. You would buy the bypass filters for the bypass unit from the bypass supplier. Don't get this mixed up, the Donaldson filters I recommended are regular oil filters. They just do an exceptional job over stock filters. In my post, I was stating that the full flow filter(s) on the engine do not need replaced as often since the bypass filter is catching more of the stuff that would choke up the stock full flow filter. So, if using a bypass unit, you should not have to worry about the full flow filters when doing extended drains. Some feel the need to change the full flow filter(s) on the engine at the same interval they are changing the bypass filter. I don't believe that is necessary.

Yeah, I'm sold on the Donaldson ELF series, they're good filters. Donaldson claims they're good for double the mileage of a regular filter.

I used to use Speedco for UOA' s, but have had some dubious reports from them. I bought a vacuum pump and prepaid collection bottles from Blackstone, the reports from them I like much better. (soot% testing procedure and test for insolubles) Blackstone tests all oil on one machine that gets calibrated twice a day and checks the machine every 9th sample with a known sample for accuracy. They also give you a professional opinion on the sample, and since they're not in the oil change business have zero skin in the game as far as selling you an oil change....
But that's that "feel good" thing, I feel better doing it myself and that's what's important.double yellow Thanks this. -
I put the OPS 10" system in during a inframe 2 years ago. I typically sample every other month, 20 to 25k changing the filter as recommended. It HAS saved my motor twice, first cought a bad EGR COOLER then metal contamination turn out to be a cam. I highly recommend the system because of it. BTW I have 1,142,000 miles on truck over 250 since installed.
