I had the rare occasion for me to get stuck three times in a 2 week waiting out the 10 hour, Love's in Goodyear, Flying J in Ehrenberg, and also Little America in Flagstaff.
Seems I was lucky enough in all 3 case's to find New drivers while eating dinner talking about how they all seem to learn to drive on the farm, uncles truck, when they were between 9 and 12, and yet they were driving for either CRST or England.
Me my Dad and Grandfather were both drivers, and i have been out here 30 so odd years, taught by my Dad at at 18, my son taught be me starting in 10th grade.
so whats your story, how did you learn or what peeked your interest.

Grand father, father, both were truckers. Started way back in the 30's when trucks ran 20 mph on flat ground. I knew my entire life i was destin to drive a truck. Started on granddads cattle ranch driving a 1963 B Model Mack, with a 6x4 trans and a 3 spd axillary. Started in 1990 driving intrastate hauling cattle after graduating from high school. Been out here since.

I always liked driving body jobs and pulling trailers with em, fixing little things and lights and stuff and one day my buddy who I previously worked with doing all that stuff said "dude you should go get your class 1 (A for you guys across the line), im loving it out here" and that was that.
Lab work Thanks this. -
I always get the blueberry pancakes at the Little America in Flagstaff. I dont think anyone else offers them. I had a 2.5 ton duce and a half while in the army. The truck was awesome and no one else would drive it.

Since the last frontiers for exploration are the ocean and space of which I am too old and out of shape to be of any contribution. Nasa wouldn't like my intergalactic skills as I am more likely to kill alien life forms on site and see what they taste like on the grill then make friends. Alas, I settle for exploring an already explored land for myself one mile, one highway at a time. Trucking and being a soldier were two childhood dreams of mine; soldiering won out in my early years after spending 5 years post retirement with my family I got into driving. 20 years ago I did take a short sabbatical from my military duties and tried o/ o.

It’s my uncles fault. He put me behind the wheel of his Peterbilt CO, when I was 5. Taught me how to work on different things on his truck when I was 15. Taught me to back up and drive it when I was 18. Got my CDL and haven’t looked back.
