Just got my first citation and only been on the road without a trainer for a month.
I had taken a back road route to my customer and then literally a mile before the customer the road changed to a 5 ton weight limit. And there were two other options to try and turn on. But it was really tight and no way to turn around so I decided to try and go through. Unfortunately for me there was an officer in the road and I wasn’t literally less than 100000 feet from the customer at the end of the road.... he said it wouldn’t affect my csa or my points and that I should check if my company has a permit that allows me to drive through. Which I know it doesn’t... that being the case. Does this mean I will get points and all too...oh it was a 750$ fine... I have drivers legal plan. But I’m not even sure how it works and safety at my company is gone till Tuesday and drivers legal plan closed until Monday. I’m freaking out....
Scared as hell.

100000 feet? Thats like almost 20 miles...
Blackshack46, okiedokie, bottomdumpin and 7 others Thank this. -
This is not a career ender. However outside of going to court I see no way to avoid that fine. Since you have that legal plan might as well see what they can do for you. If you do get hit with a fine like that see if you can work out payment terms with the court. By the way 100000 feet is like 19 miles.
NavigatorWife, Wargames and bryan21384 Thank this. -
Okay it wa literally like across the street is what I mean. Less than a minute of driving to get to security. But yeah. I’m not worried about the money. I’m worried about my place within my company...NavigatorWife Thanks this.

Plenty of work out there.

I understand plenty of work lol. But I really am happy with this company that I’m with right now and I don’t want to lose it no matter what. Given my explanation. Do you guys think this is something that would be taken as a termination? Or more of just a strong talking to..?

Don’t know you’re company, mine wouldn’t care some would.

Better keep your nose out of that GPS
CrappieJunkie and Ultratowel Thank this. -
I understand. It's better the load to be late than to take a big ticket like that. Make sure you download Google maps. I like to put it in satellite mode so I can look at certain roads. That way I can see if it's trucker friendly. I also do that when I need a place to park for the night. I look to see if there is suitable parking near my delivery. You'll make more money that wayHighway Sailor, NavigatorWife and subseaguru Thank this.
