I have a 6nz with 340c Jake's and when the engine gets to normal operating temp the Jake's do not work. I can shut it down let it cool down then they work, until the engine is about 175°f, they work but fade as it gets warm then after I run down the road and get it up to 185-190 they completely stop. I have replaced the solinoids, done a "tune up", and replaced the wire harness. I completely disassembled the housings and cleaned/inspected them, the Pistons we're worn but I'm not sure how far they can go. I don't see any obvious oil leaks around the housings when the Jake's kick in and my oil psi is good, 30 idle and 60+ 1400rpm. The engine only has 450k miles and 10k hours but I have no proof of the mileage, it does not use any oil and is very clean inside so I assume I was told correctly. Does anyone have any suggestions? New housing's? New rocker arms due to loose bushings?

You have ran it with the valve covers off and jaked it? Should be able to push in the center of the solenoid to active them. On the holddown bolts are all of them straight and one stepped? The stepped one acts as an oil passage to the jakes. I have seen the bolts get put in incorrectly causing low oil pressure to the jakes.

If it is good cold and poor hot, sounds like the internals are wore out bypassing too much of the hot thin oil.

All new stepped bolts and washers, all the solinoids function and yes I have made a mess pushing the center button on the solinoids while the covers are off. When I had them apart I did notice the slave piston and master piston where wore a bit but not bad, just not new looking. With the Jake's activated I can't really see any abnormal amounts of oil coming out anywhere it's not supposed to, but this is my first time touching Jake's. I don't trust any shops where I'm at and can't afford to loose the truck to take it out of state

You are going to have to get the truck up to the operating range where the jakes aren’t working and then take the valve covers off and do the test by pushing in the button on the solenoids. Have someone get in the truck and rev up the engine a little while doing this. That way you can rule out anything mechanical.

    6nz389 Thanks this.

I will do that when I get in tonight, I know it's something mechanical or an oil loss because I pulled the covers when I got in two days ago an stuck my head where I could see the all three buttons as I reved it and hit the Jake's, all three buttons went in but the Jake did not function. I just don't really know where to look or what is normal for oil loss. I have not had a helper rev the engine while I push the button yet, good idea
