So I was ready to leave home time this sunday, started pretripping truck and found coolant all over the place ok had to get truck towed to a shop and get waterpump replaced. Ok so I get the word the truck is ready Tuesday go pick it up an hour away at a cummins shop not a swift shop. Drive an hour back home to pick up trailer I dropped when they towed truck. Call my dm up to tell him im ready to rock and need a load. An he says well head up to the terminal we need to talk. Ok start wondering what I did, the only thing they got on me is idle time. Drive 2.5 hours to terminal from home and get there and he says, well were taking you out of your truck for a week because you havent been running the miles alot of the other trucks are running your mile performance is low. Ok well how am I supposed to get miles since november every load ive had was a 300-600 mile load which almost all of them the appointment time was two days away. Tried explaining this to the fleet manager and told him that this was not fair ive never turned down loads and run the loads they get me even though they suck. Guy wouldnt even listen to me just said well youve only got 20000 miles for the last three months and weve got other drivers that are doing way more than that. I just dont see how this is my fault in any way I mean freight is slow especially on my midwest regional runs. This is just bs and the topper was that my dm knew about this on monday and could of told me id be cleaning my truck out and I could have done this at home and had someone follow me up to the terminal to bring me back home. Nope just tells me we need to talk an I get stuck begging someone to bring my car to me and cleaning my truck out in the dark in 15 below zero weather then having to drive home in a snow storm. Geez this is getting long sorry, but im just really mad about this hole situation. Im just wondering if I can get unemployment because I was working and willing to work they just kicked me out of my truck for some bs reason. They have 12 drivers waiting for a truck and are talking about downsizing..... HMMMM then why the heck are you still hiring drivers when you cant keep the trucks you got rolling. So that was my lovely 6months of good service at swift gets me I guess.

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.
Swift - hmmm dumb today...

Welcome to trucking...when you file for unemployment you will have a fight because they are going to stick to their story of poor job performance....these companies do this to drivers all day long. Your dispatcher probably got questioned as to why your mileage was low and he passed the buck along, no matter what happens it's always the drivers fault.
-
Yeah its always the drivers fault no matter what. Its just stupid because I run what they give me and dont turn down loads no matter how short it is because they say freight is slow blah blah blah. An of course I look like the bad guy. But just dont understand why they make me empty my truck out on tuesday then say they should have a truck for me on friday to get rolling again. Why not just sit the driver and the driver manager down together and say ok your mile are low we need to get them up or this will happen.

Look into a different terminal. Not all Driver Managers and Terminal Managers are that absent minded or so quick to judge before looking into the situation. You work for an excessively large company so it's easy to get lost in the statistics. Most of the Arm-Chair Quarterbacks know what is going on with freight and what the actual plan is for downsizing, but apparently not all of them do or just try taking the wrong yet easy way and hope no one is paying attention. Maybe try contacting your Human Resources Department. You can always get in touch with them through Phoenix via the operator.

So are you fired or not. You lost me with this post
-
You said clean the truck out on Tuesday and then get another truck on Friday.. I am lost as well....
-
No not fired just pulled me out of my truck ive been in for six months for a week then will put me in another truck. That way one of the drivers they just hired an has been waiting can have a truck so they dont look like jagoffs to the new driver. Just doenst make sense why they would pull me from a truck then get me a different one a week later. Why not just sit the driver down and talk about it. Used to like my terminal but the new fleet manager is just a jerk and wouldnt even listen to me. The terminal manager listened to me but still said its my fault cause im not running the miles everyone else is running. Hmmm kinda hard to run the miles when ive been getting dispatched crappy loads 300-500 miles with two days to run it. Yeah im really gonna get 3000 miles a week that way. Well hopefully I can run with them for two more months then im gone.

Who knows you may get a newer truck and be better after all. Just wait and see don't jump to conclusions.

You gotta love that. They are the ones saying you dont have the miles, but they are the ####### responsible for dispatching your miles. What a bunch of dillusional f@#$s.
