Oh I can fix that. Will put 3 people in the truck. When each runs 30 hours, the truck stops until new wage period. No benefits and no overtime. See how this works?
You think I'm being facetious but am I? Am I if carriers were forced to pay hourly and overtime after 40 and full benefits after 30?
They would struggle to find drivers for this model but poor working conditions and wages are not an issue for many.

That or just pay minimum wage.
8 an hour for the first 40 is $320 next 20 would be $240, and the last 10 would be $160.$720 a week but you would be paid over time

I have a great idea do the math to figure out how many hours a day you're in a truck and how responsible you must be for everything I would say an average of 12 hours a day 6 days a week. You talking about $16 an hour, honestly that doesn't even cut it working from home. Now who wants to make $16 an hour for all the hours they work and then get paid 0 for the rest of the hours that day sleep in a truck or stand around in a truck stop or wait for hours to get loaded and unloaded that they don't get paid for. It should be a minimum $350 per day away from home as a driver and an owner operator should make a minimum of $1,000 a day to be away from home. And you see all these ads offering flexible home time and great pay but when you do the math you do better in pizza delivery. When you deliver pizza you get free food, tips and can smoke weed and can drive a $30 a day rent a car if needed. They need drivers with a clean record and they want you to babysit their load and you're only getting $16 an hour for the hours you work never mind the other 12 hours a day that you are not doing what you would like you have to pay to eat shower and sleep. I think on the first day of CDL School they should give math lessons. There's plenty of work if you don't want to get paid

Well, I saw this ad posted by a guy on a Werner thread last night. This is pretty good pay, don't you think?

55k or 55 hundred a month? That's the problem right there at $55,000 a year you're looking at a $1100 a week to drive and be on call all week living in a sleeper for that. No per diem.WTF. oh but wait I'll throw a couple hundred bucks a month in a 401k and give me a free $500 a month health insurance plan that doesn't cover anything..
-
It reads 55K a month. That's darn good pay right there. I bet their phone lines are jammed.
