How are Menards DC's Regarding Unloading Times

    when they got me in a dock it didn't take long to unload (useually 2 or 3 pallets ) sometimes took 4 hours to get a dock .. like I say it was refrigerated frieght candy mostly not sure if that was it or not but they always seem to have trucks waiting there .... most of there stuff is drop and hook and that's how they operate

    I delivered a load of mulch to the valley nebr dc yesterday ..in and out about 2 hours .

    The Eau Claire DC is the only one of those listed that could end up being a big thorn in your side. That place is run more like a prison encampment than anything else.

    I've been to the DC in Holiday city, Ohio, I ended up being there for almost 4 hours. I had to pick up a bunch of treated posts and wooden fence panels. Took hours to get the treated posts loaded. Got the fence panels loaded in 45 minutes and was on my way home.

    I've delivered to Menards stores, and as mentioned in another post, fairly quick once you get into a dock.

    I am not familiar with Menards. However, if it is a reefer food loading or unloading the potential to lose time is quite powerful.

    Without repeating myself too much Wife and I were reefer team, two company officers essentially took a moment to send us straight into Americold at Salinas CA emergency to load right now.

    We sit precooling a howling reefer gulping 100 gallons in that tank. We sit gulping 300 gallons in our tractor tanks for almost three days while they took the time to blast cool the product. We were going into the night towards the 4th day discussing ordering a local fuel dealer to come out with a straight bob tanker truck with 400 gallons to fuel us at our expense on credit card when they finally came out to tell us ok back in.

    1200 pay miles I think it was for that week. A complete and utter waste of team truck resources and money, the fuel burned that we instantly refilled that night on the way out would have erased any detention and any profit for the entire load.

    I have been a patient man when I needed to be often in grocery and DC's but even today this is one of the absolute worst experiences in terms of waiting and costly all around.

    reefer is waiting for just about every thing you do ...... about 12 years ago I went to reefer to get that big money and I gave it 6 yrs and finally switched back to dry van ... the money looks great with a reefer but the extra money is ate up by the constant loading and unloading time wasters ........ most everything has appointment times and that wastes time and with elog it has to hurt even more . and the aholes you are dealing with on both ends of the load .... then the repairs to the unit are very costly .. seems like 2 hours was the norm for a "fast" unload. ... if you are pulling a reefer keep track of your time wasted for a couple of weeks and then tell me how much you are making ...... then it seems like the mega carriers are expanding there reefer fleets as much as possible so that keeps that rates lower with there 30 cent a mile drivers .... I did 6 van loads last week and had about 6 hours total waste time (loading, unloading, and waiting for appointments. .. but I don't take many loads with appointments. .. or haul groceries my average time at shippers or reciever is around 30 minutes and quite a few 15 minutes or less and most of the people I deal with are "nice" ..... I still may get an aholes once in awhile but I don't go back they can get Schneider or swift to haul there stuff. ..... now when I see holiday city as the destination on load board I don't call ..... but the multiple stop loads to the stores I will take in a minute. ....

    I went to Plano, IL last week...appt times are very loose. They have overnight parking and they get done pretty quickly. The one in Terre Haute, IN had me out in less than an hr

    As previously stated, Menards stores are excellent not sure about the D.C's I've always D&H'd at D.C's. Oops I just saw the date of the last reply on this, sorry guys. Still learning the site.
