Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum. I have a CDL B in NYS. I went on vacation to New Orleans and just got back. On my way down I got pulled over and issued a speeding ticket for 85 in a 70. I know regular drivers out of state if they just pay the fine it' not affected in my home state. But what happens with CDL drivers if I just pay it? Thanks for your input

15 over is bad news. Get a lawyer and do whatever you can to keep it off of your mvr.

Why are you driving so fast? Slow the #### down.

With a CDL you usually don't want to just pay it. It dosn't take that much to loose it.

Do NOT pay it! Period! Get a lawyer and have it reduced to a non moving violation.....If that goes on your record you will never get hired anywhere for a long time.
What state pulled you?
NEVER EVER JUST PAY A SPEEDING TICKET!NavigatorWife and fargonaz Thank this. -
google Drivers Legal Plan. Since you didn't have an account when this happened, it is 500 bucks for them to put a lawyer on the ticket, then you'll set up an account with them. They will get the ticket info, their lawyer will get in touch with the county, and they will work on getting it reduced or removed, or adjusted to something less likely to hamstring your future commercial driving prospects. You'll probably have to take an online class with a 200 dollar registration fee, and maybe some other stuff. If the lawyer doesn't use the retention fee you paid they will refund it back to you. DO NOT PAY IT, contact Drivers Legal Plan as soon as possible.

Officer here. Get a copy of the ticket. Look for any desfrepancies whatsoever on it. Often times even though I’ve written 100+, I still make a mistake here and there. That mistake can get a ticket thrown out. I am NOT encouraging you or anyone to speed just so long as they can get out of it. I feel for your plight. SLOW DOWN. No reason to go 15 over. Ever. Unless someone is dying.
PM me for help with the ticket if you choose. Otherwise, contest it. If the Ofc doesn’t show, almost guaranteed it gets thrown out. If you got the ticket at night, this may be a night-shift cop, who probably wouldn’t roll out of bed at 8am for a speeding ticket trial.NavigatorWife, ItsInMyBlood and EZ Money Thank this. -
I was in the state of Lousiana not in New York. I was driving down with with friends keeping up with traffic didn't realise how fast I was actually going till I looked down and saw the police set up on the side of the road. Of course I was the out of stater and was not in a commercial vehicle.
